I always wonder what I did to piss the world off whenever I see NBC coverage of the NHL because they put the two least likable people ever together on my TV screen (Mike Milbury and Jeremy Roenick).

The worst part about NBC is Pierre McGuire.
I'm pissed because NBC is playing the Wild/Blues so I don't even get to see the Wings game. Come on, half of Chicagoland is Michigan transplants so don't tell me that wouldn't be a better one to televise.
ETA: OK, they are currently showing Wings, soooo maybe the guide was wrong. Yay!
ETA2: Newp. It's the Wild. DAMMIT.
That is nuts! Unless there are a lot of Minnesotans and people from STL in Chicagoland too? Though it's probably because they are Western teams like the Hawks.

Seriously. I give many, many thanks to the hockey gods that we have CBC here. Plus, our local guys are great. Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond. Amiright, @mrswindycity?

Our stream package includes CBC. Love it!
Congrats, Edmonton. This is your fourth #1 pick in 6 years and you still suck.

So Edmonton wins the draft lottery, which kind of made me laugh, because Toronto and Buffalo tried so hard to tank (or at least that is what it seemed like) at the end of the season to get the best chance at it. And then Edmonton, whose game play I thought improved over the last couple months, even if they didn't really move in the standings, wins the draft lottery. At least it still seemed like they were trying to win games, while others seemed to have given up. Hehehe.

Oh, and lots people around here who are Oilers fans, feel that the problems in that organization rest squarely on the upper management and not as much on the players. They don't like McTavish.

I'll give you Toronto but Buffalo was terrible from the beginning.
Clearly Edmonton has great players so yeah, I can blame upper management for their woes too. There's no reason they should still be at the bottom.

Well to be perfectly fair, we were consistently terrible all season-long, not just at the end. I think we were in last place virtually the entire time (Buffalo). We lost 14 games in a row at one point in January.
Not sure a team with 3 number ones on its roster that doesn't go after a solid goalie is really trying too hard to win games, either.

Canada may have sub-par access to things sometimes but the hockey coverage is always great. There are multiple channels showing different games when they overlap in the playoffs.
A family mine is friends with are all Oilers fans, so I'm sure they're happy about the draft lottery. I'm just glad Toronto didn't get first spot.
My mother and I watched most of the Lightning game and are now watching the (recently tied 1-1) Ranger game.
omg you guys, I know that my eldest is a really sensitive kid, but he started crying when the Lightning got their second goal. He started with the quivering lip saying something about how he didn't think it would count (probably because he couldn't tell right away how it got in) and it was a penalty, lol. Anyway as soon as I said it was a goal, he got SO upset and started crying. He has watched a lot of sports, and never done that before. Damn you, Killorn, you will pay!
Also, it ended up being televised on NBCSN, so I did get to see it, but did I want to? Maybe not.
Aww, poor kid.
Sadly, I have a similar story involving myself. My grandfather used to tease me that my favourite player would get benched from getting too many penalties starting around the time I was that age. Never mind that he was a penalty killer, that was the teasing. He actually did get a penalty in a playoff game and I was CONVINCED that it was his fault we lost to Buffalo and I had a similar reaction. My mom actually had to sit me down and explain that Ottawa was losing anyway and they weren't going to dig themselves out of that hole. (Looking at Wiki, this was probably when they got swept when I was 7.5.)
For the record, I have the same sense of humour as my grandfather and he wasn't doing it to be mean. The joke about getting slivers is now a long-standing nickname and even my name on my jersey.

I'm still happy to get Eichel, anyhow.
Yeah, that's true. A decent goalie would maybe be a good option to look into. Maybe it was just Toronto that obviously gave up. Well, it's not like any of even the top 5 draft picks are going to be terrible options. Sucks for the Sabres fan with the McDavid jersey, though. Also, what are the Rangers doing in this game? Lulling the Pens into a false sense of security or something?

4-2 Penguins. There have been a lot of high scoring games already... 5-1, 6-2, 4-2 (and counting?), 4-3, and probably others that I'm forgetting in the first few days.

Islanders got an OT goal 15 seconds in lol.
Chicago vs. Nashville features my favourite former Senator and my mother's favourite former Senator, so we are watching that now while I do some course work.
Ottawa plays again tonight, back in the city for the first time and we desperately need a win. A couple Sens fans were harassed & assaulted at the last game, so the Sens owner has invited the sisters to his private box in the CTC to watch the game.
