Death in the Floating City by Tasha Alexnder. I have zero attention span this week (so thankful it's Friday! Ugh, this week) and I'm mostly following this one.
QOTW: the bachelor and bachelorette. I've been watching for so long and it just gets trashier and trashier, but I can't quit.

STILL on Breath of Snow and Ashes. I did not do much reading this week. I think once I'm done with this book, I'll take a break from the series for a bit before starting Echo in the Bone.
QotW: America's Next Top Model...... Only show I will turn off when my brother comes in the room
Just started The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce. Not far enough in yet for an opinion. Finished listening to Yes Please by Amy Poehler. I liked that she had special audio guests-Carol Burnett, Kathleen Turner, Seth Meyers-that made it more fun.
Lots of us seem to be reading long books and still working through them.
I'm (still) reading Pillars of the Earth and finding the story interesting but the writing somewhat stilted. The characters are really one-dimensional. But I like the historical look at life and the cathedral stuff.
I'm also listening to A Memory of Light. I've read the paper version already and like it but was looking for something fairly mindless to listen to while doing a bunch of chores.

I will finish A Breath of Snow and Ashes today. I'm enjoying it more than the last two, and I realized that part of the problem is that I don't find the American Revolution is interesting as events that took place in Scotland. But at least the supporting characters have stuff to do this time.
TGIF! I just finished reading Shakespeare Saved My Life. It was just ok. I picked back up Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live. It's good, but I'm not sucked into it. I might put it back down for a while.
I'm listening to All the Light We Cannot See and it's really good.
I am in dire need of a light, fluffy read next before I pick up my next "project"- Alaska, by James Michener. I've not read one of his epics before, but I love historical fiction and we're traveling to Alaska this summer so I really want to read it. I couldn't find it from my library system as an e-book, so it looks like I'll be risking carpal tunnel from the 800+ page hardcover I picked up used.
QOTW: We don't have cable, but I binge watch on Netflix. Madmen and Orange is the New Black are two series I'm into right now (older seasons).
When we had cable, I would watch marathons of Cheaters- a stupid show where the guy would bust people cheating on their ex with "live" cameras and fights/drama would ensue. True trash- but I couldn't help myself.

I feel terrible to admit I'm still reading A Proud Taste for Scarlet and Miniver. But I did read a guilty pleasure Amish romance novel this week, so it's not like I haven't been reading.
QOTW: I don't have cable, and a lot of American guilty pleasure tv isn't re-broadcast here, so I really miss the ridiculousness of World's Dumbest, Cops, and Jail. But I am only partially ashamed to admit I plan my weeks so I have Thursday nights clear for Tattoo Nightmares and Ink Master.
Reading Assassination Vacation by Sarah Bowell. Non-fiction book about the assassinations of Lincoln, etc and the historic sites. It's been on my to-read list forever. Interesting but not a page-turner.
Charmed reruns. If the original 90210 was on Netflix, THAT would be my guilty pleasure.

It's on free-to-air tv here in Australia weekday mornings at 9. Charmed is on at noon.
I am reading The Good Girl for book club, i like it. One other member disliked it so much I gave her "permission" to stop reading, she and I will have to talk about what she didn't like when I finish.
QOTW: nothing currently, it used to be Say Yes to the Dress.

i read this too and really enjoyed it!!! I got your back girl
Just finished Edith Head's Hollywood - learned a bit about her that I didn't know (mainly that a lot of fashion I attributed to her was actually Givenchy). Also reading The Quants - which is making me angry and I probably won't be able to finish. And HP and the Goblet of Fire
QOTW: The Walking Dead and Say Yes to the Dress. I don't really watch many shows.

That is exactly how I feel about it too. The American Revolution never interested me in school

I find most of that is how history is taught in schools. There are great stories out there, but they get overlooked in order to get the facts out there. I highly recommend Ann Rinaldi's books in the Great Episodes Series. They're written for a Young Adult audience, but they really are worth reading.
