UPDATE:
I have been checking IKEA daily since this post. Last night I saw that the dresser was finally in stock, so I ran over at lunch to get it, and a matching night stand. Hurrah! Now, I just have to decide if I should leave it pine or paint it gray to match DS' bed.
I still wish I could get that chair
Every single item I want from IKEA is NEVER in stock and not sold online.
Like this chair? I checked for months, never in stock, and then it was taken off teh website.
Now i want the Nornas dresser, which is not sold online and is out of stock in every single store I check
I wanted that chair too. Or the sofa, but they just showed the sofa in the showroom and never had it in stock either. Good luck! It's not in stock here either.
Maybe they decided to introduce them in the states in August.
Oh, you mean they are being sold elsewehre but not the US? That pine furniture I showed, the other items in the line are available, just nto the dresser I want The chair has been removed from the website, their FB page says it was discontinued. I think they had issues with the manufacture.

Can the stores tell you when it will be back in stock? The dresser we wanted was out of stock at the store and they were able to tell us when more would arrive so we could plan to be there that night to pick it up.
I'm amazed how quickly some stuff sells through at IKEA.

The website says unknown stock date, but I guess I could call and maybe they would be able to tell me a more accurate date. If they know stuff sells out quickly, they need to stock more! lol.
Can you call your local store and have them check other inventory and possible charge ship you one over the phone? (Don't know if they do that, but it doesn't hurt to try)

And this also one of my frustrations with Ikea
Well, I checked the inventory for like 7 stores online and none of them had it. I am pretty sure it is out everywhere but I can try!

I tried 3 different trips to get the damn Mala table top paper roll thing and never managed to get one, even though their site said in stock. Finally, one of my friends snagged one on a random weekday trip. It's not like I was going Sunday afternoons, they're out by Saturday morning!

I guess I will just check every morning? Do they normally stock in the morning? Or shoudl i check throughout the day lol.

No idea! I've had an IKEA for only... 6 months lol.
My Ikea gets stock continually through the week, but I now know that all of their kitchen items come in on Sunday morning.
We've been renovating now for ~8 weeks. We purchased our kitchen 9 weeks ago and there are some items still not in stock. Our reno is almost over, and I've made 6 trips to Ikea, during which I've been able to pick up one or two items that have been on our "out of stocks" list. We are finally down to two drawer fronts. It has been soooo frustrating. We are, at least, working through a contractor and we can install things ourselves if the job is finished before our drawers come. My store won't hold things for me, so I have been going at least once a week to get whatever I can.
But. People who purchased kitchens to be delivered and installed by Ikea have been screwed for months. The delivery will come, without pieces that you ordered (so you have to go back to pick them up... probably many times). But the installers won't come until every last hinge has been acquired. So if you gutted your kitchen with an anticipated delivery and installation date, but you're short a drawer front? Not gonna happen. For weeks, if not months.

Well, I am not sure why this is an acceptable way of doing business. That sucks.

That is crazy, I wonder if so much of their business is private contractors and DIY homeowners that it doesn't matter?

I don't know either. According to the Ikea kitchen salespeople, who are super frustrated too, it's because they rolled out the new cabinets and then had a huge sale (save 10% if you spend $3500 and 20% if you spend $4500) within a month of the rollout.
Isn't that chair and the matching couch cool? I believe that was some kind of limited supply of reproductions of famous Ikea furniture and the good one sold out right away.
ETA: Whoops! I just realized that the article gets preachy near the end. "Why are you buying things at Ikea when you could be buying them in a French fleamarket like meeeee?"
I love that dresser, so I checked my store, nope. Then I checked stores at random, it appears no one has it, so maybe it isn't in the US?
I thought about that, but then it seems dumb that it shows on the US site right? Also, I checked a few different stores and some stores says "not in stock" and others say "not sold at this store" so it seems like it should be sold? I have no clue. I just want the dresser lol
Where are you located? I have a chair that is very similar but might not make the move.
Arlington, VA. We could package really well?
I meant it might not make it with us to our new place. Hmmm, it might be too much to ship. Its a sturdy chair, but needs reupholstered. I can take a photo if you want.

Thanks that be great!
Ok, I'm out of town now, but I'll see if I can find one remotely. Otherwise I'll post Monday.
