DD's birthday party is tomorrow and being held at a local play place. We're ordering pizza for the kids and parents - 11 pizzas total. I called Papa John's earlier today and got most of the way through the order when their phones stopped working. Tried to call back a few times unsuccessfully. Turned to the local Domino's and was excited because they were actually able to beat PJ's price by $15 - yay! Got the order confirmed, all is good.
PJ's called me back just a bit ago to apologize for their phone issues and try to get my order finished. I explained how I moved on and they immediately offered 50% off. Score! However, I wanted to make sure D's would allow me to cancel (I'd given them my credit card info). Called D's and they immediately price matched! I stuck with Domino's because they already had my order and payment info but I basically feel like I just won the lottery. We're saving about $60 this way so it's no small feat.
DH will be happy because this is basically the cost of a Little Caesar's Hot n Ready which I veto'd because I didn't want to worry about picking up at the last minute (delivery-only). I feel a little ridiculous being SO excited about this but I am genuinely pretty thrilled. Between this and the Costco cake, this may turn out to be cheaper than an at-home party (where I would certainly feel compelled to cook nice food because I'm an obsessive host).
Step 1: Position your DH with wire cutters outside of your local pizza place. Step 2: Start placing your order, then have DH cut their phone lines. Step 3: Book with the competition, wait two hours, get a better offer.
But more seriously - YES. I will henceforth always price haggle for orders over 4-5 pizzas.
