What does a non-walking baby wear on his feet to daycare in the summer? I have been sending M barefoot since it got warm. Do you think this makes him look like nobody loves him? LOL
I have been putting a pair of soft-soled Bobux on DS to go to the playground. He crawls around there and the idea of him with bare feet in a public place just squicks me out a little. Plus, he's already pulling up to stand, so I like the extra grip of the Bobux over just socks.
ETA: if DS is just playing inside, he does so in bare feet. But does your daycare take them outside during the day?
Question - when you are at the stage where your kid CAN walk somewhere like the park (say 10-20 minutes walk) but might get tired and give up halfway home, do you bring the stroller? I like having somewhere to dump a bag or whatever, so I am debating getting a wagon or something.
I always had a carrier or stroller with me for short outings until DD was about 2.
@vicmo we generally go stroller free at parks and out shopping, but DD isn't all that heavy and we are used to carrying her (which I don't recommend, lol).
If we walk around the neighborhood one of us just pushes the empty stroller. She rarely goes in it but I like the insurance.
Lol, I think B outweighs her. We have been pushing the empty stroller but I have been wondering if a wagon would be less awkward. Or maybe a cheap umbrella stroller.
Cheap umbrella stroller! We loved our Chicco one. It's good for traveling and public transportation, too.
Ok, so can I add another question--what are your favorite shoes for non-walking babies. I've heard of Robeez and Pedipeds. But HOLYSHIT do I need to spend $40/pair of shoes for my non-walking baby?? Maybe I need to try some consignment stores!!
I like robeez and Bobux, rbp. They hold up very well.DS is wearing the two pairs that belonged to DD. Meanwhile, my nursing bras from DD stretched out and were absolutely un-reusable.
You could also try the Zutano booties. That's what I had on DS all winter to go out and about. They have lighter fabric ones than the fleece ones I used.
DS' teacher prefers barefoot, unless they're going outside. I have a hard time because he looks so "unfinished" with his bare feet, but I'm getting over it! It's a lot easier to get over it when, after struggling to get the damn things on, he then chucks the $50 shoes at me!

Hell if I'm carrying this kid any significant distance. Wagons are awesome.
I rarely put socks on E and were in the PNW. If her feet seem cold I put a blanket on her. ::shrug::
My question is when the hell is my hair going to stop falling out?!?! I'm nearly 11wks pp and its still real bad. I've easily lost 1/2. Its everywhere too. I always find hair in her diaper.
I was in instructed to stop my PNV with all of E's food intolerances but I'm tempted to start it back up to see if that helps. I'm also hypothyroid and need my levels checked again. So besides that anyway I can make this better or am I SOL for awhile?

We were sending C barefoot and got some weird comments from the staff ("barefoot again today?"). We started sending him in Velcro fisherman's sandals from Target (I think they are Oshkosh). Eta: they have soft soles.
fayeelle .... ummmmm bad news. I think it doesn't stop for a few more months. I think my hair loss peaked around 4-5 months and stopped around 7 maybe?
Uggggghhhhh.... I guess that means I should go ahead and cut my hair. I was debating since she keeps grabbing it even in a ponytail since its a bit past bra length now. Maybe shorter and more layered will make it look better.

Once DD was crawling, I bought her the Ministar soft-soled shoes from target. The only reason I did was because the tops of her feet would get so gross.
should I get an elective scan in 1.5 weeks to determine the sex?
I WON'T because of radiation or whatever but I'm tempted.
Yes! I had one done this time at 16 weeks and have no regrets! I just had my 20w anatomy scan a few days ago and was happy I didn't have to wait that long. Even though I've only known a month it feels like forever.
DD1 is 6. We brush and floss her teeth diligently. I've switched her toothpaste 3 times, tried fluoride and even non-fluoride to see if it would help. She has weird metallic-smelling breath and she keeps getting dark plaque on her front bottom teeth. The only thing that takes it off is baking soda, and I have to do it every single day. If anyone has any advice, please clue me in. I feel awful for her. I feel like a bad mom when her teeth look like that, but she doesn't drink juice or even milk, just water. She doesn't eat candy really, and we hardly eat any processed foods. I don't get it. I made her an appointment with the dentist, but it takes forever to get an appointment, so she won't see anyone until next month. Ugh. DD2 doesn't have this going on at all, FWIW.
At what age did you start a bedtime routine for your baby (e.g., bath, bottle, book, bed)? It occurred to me that the way we are doing it now, he really has no idea that it is night time so we should start establishing some kind of routines/cues. I don't intend for him to sleep through the night or anything, but I just want him to associate night with certain things and day with certain things.
I think we will start that tomorrow.
Did/do you try to keep the baby awake for awhile before the first night stretch?

Around 8 weeks. DD had a 3-hour witching hour before bedtime so it was never necessary to keep her awake, but I don't think I would; overtired babies are harder to put to sleep.

We started a bedtime routine around 10w. Before that it was a free for all of being asleep or awake any time of day.
M is just now being happy to stay awake for more than two hours at a time, so we've never really restricted evening napping.
If naptime starts late and runs long, do you wake your kid up? If you let them sleep, do you pay for it that night with a late bedtime?
#bragplaint
I was never glad I woke Dd up from a nap for any reason. By the time she was a certain age, the damage of a late nap was done, regardless of whether the nap lasted 10 minutes or 2 hours. She surprised me a couple of times (only a couple!) by sleeping through until 3 or 4 am when she started a nap late, and then I somehow convinced her to go back to sleep. Not so if she woke up while all lights were still on in the house, etc.
krystee, none of this applies to babies. Don't let anyone tell you that a baby needs to be awake for a certain amount of time in order to sleep better at night.
