We are stilling dealing with sleep issues at our house and I met with a sleep specialist today. Her recommendation was dh do 100% of bedtime and night wakings for at least 3 days preferably 2 weeks (won't work given our schedules). We are trying it tonight. He's ready for her to sleep. I am too, but it's going to remove any and all nursing sessions except wake up which is touch and go these days anyway. I'm not ready for my baby to stop nursing I'm sitting in a parking lot crying waiting for him to tell me they are asleep.

I weaned cold turkey and sleep trained DS2 at 14 months due to a variety of factors. I was really worried but it went much better than I anticipated and our overall quality of life improved after we established a better balance and less dependence on me. Hopefully your experience will be similar. Good luck!
I did something similar with DS2. He weaned from the boob, the paci and started sleeping through the night all within 2 weeks at 19 months. DH started putting him down for bed and it helped tremendously. I was a little sad to be done nursing, but at 19 months he was ready. I'm sorry, I know it's rough. But consistent sleep will change your life so much.
Ugh, I'm so sorry, that is really hard. Nursing is a funny thing - it's so intertwined with life, sleep, comfort, etc. It's normal to be upset about it. It's also okay to find a way to still nurse if you want to even if DH is handling the sleep stuff. That was always how we night weaned - had DH handle it for a few nights, it worked well for us and they still nursed during the day ok - hopefully that will happen to you in the morning & she'll want to nurse.

Ugh she was only up once so I guess it worked but we will see if it lasts. My dh did tonight again and will do tomorrow too the. He's gone the rest of the week so hopefully it helps.

Thanks everyone it really sucks. Honestly the worst part is my big girl screaming when I leave in the evening. I need to leave earlier I think but I like seeing them in the evening.
dizzycooks - I just wanted to say that I sympathize and hope that things get better soon! We had a really hard time with DD2 and I admire you for seeking help with a sleep specialist. We talked about it, but never did. Good sleep vibes for everyone in your house!
