I plan to see a doctor this week, but I'm curious if anyone has experienced something similar.
I did nothing out of the ordinary other than walk on my tip toes in the garage for a few minutes. About 20 minutes later, the pad under my left big toe was swollen. That's never happened before. I did not step on anything in the garage (no cut, not puncture, no bug bites, nothing). It felt like walking on a rock, so I iced it and stayed off it. At work the next day, I hobbled a bit, but it didn't hurt, and then felt better, so I walked normally (in low heels). When I got home, there was bruising on the side of the foot by the big toe (but not the bottom pad) and the swelling was all gone. The bruising has been fading the past two days (and it doesn't hurt at all).
I've had no change in shoes or walking or anything, so the walking in the garage is my best guess on the root cause. I'm not a runner, but I do walk a few miles a week on a treadmill. I'm thin, short, and pretty healthy (normal blood pressure, no illnesses).
Google had some mixed results and I didn't quite fit all the symptoms for any one diagnosis. For example, turf toe sounds like it's painful and I haven't felt any pain. My second toe is longer than my big toe, which I recently learned (via google) can cause issues with the foot.
No worries if no one else has experienced this. Humorous responses are also welcomed.
