I hate tube slides. Could you get a tarp or something to put over it when it's not in use to eliminate some of the poop? FTR I couldn't see the first picture so I can't comment on the angle.

It's really hard to tell from that picture, but to me the second one looks like it ends up going almost a full 180. It looks like the sort of lip of the slide continues to turn even after it opens up, so you end up coming out the same direction as you went in.
I'm torn on which to choose. Can you go to a showroom & have the kids try them out? I think the open slides have a longer lifespan because kids can also climb up them, and they don't feel too big for them as early. I also think that tube slides end up looking dirtier because stuff builds up in the seams between sections and around the bolts. Rain wishes most other stuff down an open slide. But I think tube slides are a little safer. Somehow my 20 month old frequently ends up catching his foot on the way down an open twist slide & comes out head first. I gave to stand again the bottom & clothesline him to turn him back around.
My mom claims she always hated them because she was afraid the Russians would pick the moment she was going down to plug both ends, thereby trapping her inside and causing her to die a terrible, prolonged death inside a tube slide at the hands of evil Communists. But I always figured that particular fear was the result of growing up during the Cold War.
I am baffled as to what actual threat tube slides pose. I very much appreciate the fact that my child seems less likely to fall off of one.
I vote you. It will keep the bird poop off of the slide your kids are sliding on. We bought a tube slide for our kids b/c we felt it was safer, no risk of falling off the side etc. I think maybe two or three kids out of the probably 100 kids that have come over, have been afraid to use it. My kids were a little hesitant to use it when we first put it up but after I went down it with them they were fine

It's the unknown. Maybe it's wet in there. Maybe there's dirt or spiders. Or whatever else. Although a yellow one would be the least scary.
We went with a tube slide. I have grand visions of putting the hose in the slide and making a water slide. Also, kids can't fall out of tube slides and the bird poop thing. Team you!

We tried the waterslide on our tube slide...however the kids flew out so fast they flew a few feet into the air once they hit the bottom of the slide and landed on rocks. We had to move the "waterslide" to the non tube slide that we have which is shorter and has all grass at the bottom. That worked better but is in a wet area so we flooded the grass quickly and had to stop.
