I got tickets for today's Cavaliers playoff game. DH and I could really use some alone time. My aunt and grandparents are supposed to take my kids for the afternoon. Of course, DD2 puked in the car on the way home from seeing a friend last night. She woke up a couple of hours ago and asked for medicine, saying her tummy hurt. My gparents are 90. I NEVER take my kids out there if they have any hint of illness. FWIW, DD3 had This last Sunday. She puked 2 times and that was that. I have no one else to watch the kids.
WWYD? Cancel our plans and try to sell the tickets or proceed as planned and hope my gparents don't get sick?
Eta: to address some of the questions below...my aunt lives with them so having just her watch isn't an option. She lives an hour away and won't drive to is. We will have to take the kids out there then drive back in for the game, back out to get them and then home. DD2 is 3.5. If she's actually sick I won't take her. I'm more concerned about that nebulous place where she doesn't feel well but isn't puking.
Update: We're at the game. I called my gparents to cancel and they insisted we bring them out. DD2 just puked the one time last night. She still says her tummy hurts, so we loaded her up with ibuprofen and left her. Cavs are up at halftime, DH and I are having some much needed time away from the kids. Hopefully she's fine and it ends up being a weird fluke.
If they weren't elderly I'd probably call and ask them. But as it is in wouldn't want to risk them getting sick. Is there anyone else who'd be willing to risk babysitting dd2 (while sending the healthy kids to your gparents) so you can go? I don't know how old she is, but if she's an age where she'll just lie on the couch watching TV the whole time that wouldn't be too bad for someone.
I wouldn't risk it with the age of your grandparents or your aunt if she is their primary caregiver. Plus, if the kid goes south, you'll have an hour drive home with a sick kid. Nope.
If your Dh wants to go, let him bring a friend and make it up to you another time. Unless you're the bigger fan, in which case he could stay home.
