I like it, but it's so not anything I'd wear... so I'm not freaking out trying to get it.
My question to you is, what designers would you storm Target for?
For me:
Lanvin (but, honestly, I can't imagine what a Lanvin for Target line would look like)
Kate Spade (how great would that be??)
I wish Target could figure out a way to limit reselling somehow; I dunno, limiting quantities or something. It's such a drag to hear all these stories of people clearing the shelves in minutes...
I love Lilly and got to my store 30 min after opening- no clothes left. And I'm in CO where I assumed I would not need to camp out! I don't think there is any designer I'd camp out and stampede for.
TBH I can't think of a single brand to which I am so loyal that I would put up with the predictable bullshit that is limited edition collections at Target.

I also went to three Targets for the Missoni stuff.
A long time ago '10 Zac Posen did a line for Target. The stuff was cool and it was hard to find. It was always sold out. ::Shakes fist::
Also, Jean Paul Gaultier
People are freaking out about LP, and okay, I just tried to get the maxi dress but JPG has done a line, Thakoon has done a line..I mean LP is crashing the website? It kind of shows who the target (lol) market is.
H&M did a Louboutin collaboration once. I really, really wanted those shoes.
omg, I bet they were pretty.
They were. I shopped them online. They only had the collection at a couple stores WORLD WIDE. One was Las Vegas, and my mom lives there. I convinced her to go look but (1) it was insane and (2) everything was sold out except for like, a paltry studded belt haha.

huh. As it turns out, Lanvin did a collaboration with H&M
(shows how much I know.)
it was so.fucking.pretty
one of the reasons I love Lanvin is they don't seem to be all committed to wearability. They're about pretty and fuck the rest. And I love that they seem to have carried that through to their H&M collab. Good on them! (edit: meaning, they didn't do a bunch of jeans and blouses... it's a very dressy collection)

I have never been a huge Lily fan, and honestly, I'm plus size and she normally doesn't make anything in my size anyhow.
But I had wanted a scarf, the plates, and a plus size maxi dress. When the PS stuff is only sold online and of course sold out. I checked my local store online at 9 and it said stuff was still in stock so I went out there, but it was picked over by the time I got there. I walked away with a pair of flip flops though lol.
Probably nothing. I planned to stay up last night and ended up going to sleep instead.
I stopped by my Target this morning because I had to take Jackson to religious ed anyway but I didn't get in line because it was raining and I have priorities. Getting rained on is above Lilly for Target. I didn't even attempt to get any of the women's stuff and just got a few things for Scarlett that matched a swimsuit she has already. People are nuts. They just emptied crap into their carts. I saw one woman with like ten of the same bag. I don't get it.
And I esp don't get it for Lilly even though I like the brand. Because the price point is not at the level of some other designer collabs.

I wonder if there's going to be a restock.
I'm going on a good vacation this summer, and would like a pretty swim coverup, but I'd want it in plus and apparently the entire plus collection was sold out in less than an hour.

A few people on my fb feed have said they heard Tuesday.
I don't know. I like Lily well enough, but this has gotten such high visibility that everyone is going to spot the Target Lily dresses a mile away. I'd rather pay a little more to have something a little more unique.
There is absolutely nothing that could entice me to deal with that shit.
In case I'm not clear, "that shit" is in reference to swarms of people turning into a bunch of piranhas when they smell the blood of a deal in the water, not to the product itself.
Has anyone searched eBay yet to see what people are hawking these "good deals" for?
I get that Target just wants to sell and if that means customer #1 literally clears the racks then it is no skin off their back. But I do dislike that they are encouraging folks to make a profit off of their collaborations.
My store said there won't be a restock but check back to see as people who scooped up 20 dresses start returning them. They only have 14 days to return the LP stuff

I wish they had had a limit. There were literally people with 30 items in their baskets. A limit of 5 or 10 would have been much better

How exactly are they encouraging them?
By not setting any limits and making the collaboration stock so limited. It basically begs people to do exactly that.

Retailers know that when they have something "limited" and high demand that they have two choices: 1. Limit the number of items per customer to spread the products to more customers and limit resale for profit. 2. Do nothing kniwing that the person clearing a rack of 20 dresses in 10 sizes is obviously not keeping them all for their household.
This conversation applies to much more than just Target collabs. I've seen it here at Christmas with the "it toy". Should TRU limit sales to two or three per customer? Or should it look the other way and let one person score all 20 and then charge triple on eBay?
I'll admit that "encourage" may have been the wrong word. However, I do believe that the shelf clearing hysteria they create with their policies is definitely less customer-centered and much more business centered.
If it matters, I don't really have a strong opinion either way. I just think it's an interesting business decision. I can see both sides.

I am guessing where I live that this collab will not sell out. I live in upstate NY, not exactly the land of pastels and patterns.
I really want the toddler girl rashguard. It is SO cute and I will see if I can snag it on clearance. They seem to go to clearance very fast with the collaborations. I got the most beautiful Jason Wu dress at 70% off for Lila and it lasted 2 Christmas seasons still in perfect shape.
I was going to say Alexander McQueen, but apparently there was a collection in 2009. Who knew... It did not seem to show any skull prints or a knockoff of the knuckle clutch that I still covet though, so I'm relieved. Lol.
The thing about the Target collections is - the fabrics are usually bad and the fit is usually atrocious. I can never figure this out. Brands at the same price point seem to be fine, but the Target collaborations are just bad bad bad. The colors are always garish too. So I can never figure out the freakout for them.
I will say - I'm not a Lilly person, but I did like some of the stuff in this collection. Again cause the fit with the Target stuff is so bad (and all of the dresses were too short for me anyway), I'd rather just pick up a real Lilly dress on sale. I see Lilly on 6pm today - so the stuff goes on sale - and its not like the price point was outrageous in the first place.
ETA: And also yeah, I'd look like a fool walking around this city in most of the Lilly stuff. It would be cute for vacation though.
