I am dying that any other airline, other than sitting in first class somewhere, would be $1500 better than Southwest. Or that no in-flight entertainment is the qualm. For $1500, everyone can get their own tablets, which last much longer than the duration of those flights. LOL.

RIGHT?!
I get that we all have our own preferences. So why I might not, I can see why someone might pay, say, $100 more for their preferred airline. But FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS?! I have taken whole trips that cost less than that! I cannot imagine paying $1500 more just to avoid Southwest. My mind. It is boggled.

I flew them for the first time last month and had a great experience. This is the first time I've lived in a city they fly to so I'm sure I'll be using them again. They gave us free beer samples on the flight to Vegas. Can't beat that.

I know people that will pay thousands more to take the train.

FIFY.
Take a visit to my other favorite forum Amtrak Unlimited. Trust me...there are others. I actually don't pay for long distance sleepers - I only use my points - but there will be people posting on there about how their cross country trip cost $4,000 (when a comparable flight takes 1/4 of the time and costs $500).
I was never a fan of the "no assigned seat" Southwest way, but we flew them for the first time earlier this year with our 2 young kids and they did a great job. Excellent customer service, the flight crew was helpful and engaged, our plane was clean, we didn't get screwed with a million fees, and it was actually a breathe of fresh air. I think you'll likely have a great trip -- they certainly converted us with this last trip.
I have an undying love for Southwest. Their prices, customer service, no change fees on flights (this is huge...I'm in sales and I'm constantly changing flight times to accommodate customer appts), their prices, their no-baggage fees policy and their employee satisfaction/retention are all reasons why. And Midway. I hate O'Hare with a passion.
