Drink a lot!!bring more than one swim suit. Bring a plastic bag to store said suits for travel home. We made the mistake of tossing a damp suit in the luggage. It was musty and gross when we got home.
Get an RX for the scopolamine patches if there's a chance you might get seasick. Take advantage of when the ship offers interesting/unusual foods - if you don't like it, you can always order something else. Go with the cheese factor - it's way more fun than judging it lol. If there's a wine bar, set up camp. It's the coolest place on every ship

Eating and drinking a lot have never been a problem for me! We got the unlimited beverage package as a free extra. This is our first solo vacation since our honeymoon 7 years ago so I'm so excited!
If you feel seasick (which is less likely given where you're going, and presumably on a huge ship), fight the urge to go lay down in bed. The best thing you can do is go to the highest deck and stand at the side and look at the horizon.
Have so much fun! The last time I was on a ship was 13 years ago and I still dream of that wonderful lull and being rocked to sleep every night. (Though it was a small ship by cruise standards, and we were in open waters.)
Nassau is kind of gross, use that as a day to hang out by the pool because everyone gets off the ship, so the pool is empty. Do not spend money to go to Atlantis' beach - not worth it!

Bring medication. Simple things like tylenol and mucinex are SO expensive on board. I ended up with the worst head cold when I went to the Bahamas and I couldn't find medicine anywhere. If either of you tend to get tummy issues with new foods, bring things like gas x and pepto. I usually go to the gas station and get the little travel packets so they don't take up too much room.
• magnetic dry erase markers • command strips • Painter's tape (If you have a conjoining room) • poopourri
I also have these wall dots (to leave notes for each other or room steward) and a magnetic night light (ALMOST EVERYTHING IS MAGNETIC!) for the bathroom so you don't have to turn the overhead light on in the bathroom at night.
ETA:
Also walkie talkies if you're not going to stick together on the ship.
highlighters for Compass (or whatever the agenda is called for your Cruise line)
I hate cruisecritic, those people are way too intense.
Definitely bring seasickness meds. I'm pretty much done with cruises because I get too seasick (I plan to get the patches for whenever I manage to go to Antarctica), and I was really wishing I had them on my Panama Canal cruise. Instead my coping strategy was a non-drowsy Bonine upon waking, and an ample supply of breadsticks to nibble on. I'd grab a big handful ever night and store them wrapped in a napkin in the side table of my bed.
Definitely bring 3M strips and hooks. I used a couple so I could hang my hair stuff toiletry bag outside of the bathroom, and for my hat.
Bring a hat with a brim, along with sunglasses.
Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.
Find other people to hang out with on the ship by partnering with them for things like mid-day trivia games.

I seriously need to know what all this is for. dry erase markers? painters tape? command strips?
Hehehehee
Command strips because there aren't a lot of places to hang things. Dry Erase markers for the wall dots so you can leave notes for each other or the room steward. Painters tape to help cut down noise if you're unlucky enough for a conjoining room. Put the tape around the conjoining door. (we are the unlucky ones this time. I hope our neighbors aren't snots!).

Bring a carry on bag with your swimwear and pool gear (lotion, hat, etc) so you can go right to the pool when you board. Your luggage won't likely be at your room much before 4 in the afternoon so you don't want to lose time waiting for that.
This isn't a joke. Bring a size up of something, or a forgiving maxi dress. There is SO MUCH FOOD.
Thirded. I wear only maxi dresses and skirts on cruises. Between alcohol and extra sodium/richer food, I get bloaty. I brought shorts on the last trip we took and didn't even take them out of my luggage.
Are you going on the Getaway? We're doing that one at the end of May. I can't wait! NCL doesn't have a formal night, so no need for a long dress.
Book a hot stone massage as soon as you can! I have never been so relaxed. We're planning to try for a vibe pass, too.
We are sailing on the Norwegian Sky out of Miami .
We are on the same ship. We're sailing in July for my birthday. I like Norwegian's small ships. We did the Breakaway in February and while we had a really good time, it was very expensive and the mega-ship size just felt overwhelming to me.
I recommend a Kindle, more sunblock than you think you'll need, a power strip for the room (to charge multiple things), and your own shampoo/conditioner if your hair is picky. Mine isn't, so i just use the stuff they provide.
Try a specialty restaurant. The Cagney's (up-charged steakhouse) on this ship is said to be the best in the fleet.
Bring mini germ-x bottles for when you're out and about. Also, gallon size ziplocs are awesome for sandy flip flops, wet bathing suits and towels when you are off the ship. I brought these to the private island and it was nice to toss wet/dirty stuff back in my bag without worrying about other things getting messy.
Bring lots of underwear if you're going to be active. We do a lot of activities during the day (volleyball, dodgeball, gym, etc.) and I get sweaty. It's very nice to have clean underwear to put on after showering.
All this extra shit you have to bring - no thank you. I prefer resorts, thank you very much.
That extra stuff like tape and such really isn't necessary. I never understand why people act like they need all this extra stuff. Need something from your room attendant? Call them up and tell them. Need more hangers just ask. I've never brought anything differently than what I would bring to a hotel. It's like people go into survival mode as if they will never see land again.

Hush you. It's FUN to be interactive with your steward. We made one a power point slide show once with a ton of monkey towel animals. ETA: Scored a free bottle of champagne.
This is our first time in a sardine room. I'm hoping we'll be upgraded, but we'll be fine if not. it's not a LOT of room to pack the extras we WANT to bring. Definitely don't HAVE to, but I think it's FUN.

Who shot who in the what now?
George of the jungle on repeat! It was great! He was the BEST. Never had one like him before or again.
He took my husband's suit and made it into a "man" with a pillow for a head that looked like a shark. Had the champagne in one arm. It was awesome. I might have pictures!
But you all knew I'm an 80 year old woman to begin with. Don't you all act surprised!
