I use the Jessie's curl stuff (in the nicer section at Target).
It's just okay really. I have to use head and shoulders or my scalp is a hot mess so I don't do no poo. I do only shampoo 2-3x/week.
Maybe I need to try the deva curl stuff when I run out of this.
Anecdotal but I used to need to use dandruff shampoo until I gave up sulfates in products/shampoo, then my scalp miraculously didn't need that anymore. It could also have something to do with getting older though.
page my hair curly looks a lot like yours but I end up wearing it straight often because I can't go to work with wet hair, kwim? How long does your hair take to air dry?
Crap I can't remember the name of the for-curly-hair shampoo and conditioner in using. Right now. But shampoo/ condition daily in the shower, comb out in the shower, then apply Paul Mitchell mousse. I wrap my wet hair up on top of my head in a "plop" and wear it as long as possible. Then I take it down and spray the Paul Mitchell "Freeze and Shine" spray.
Since learning to put it in a plop, I've been embracing the curly hair. It's saves me SO MUCH TIME!
Thanks to this thread I have spent the last 30 minutes researching hair products instead of working. My sad frizzy postpartum hair thanks y'all, though!
Does anyone use one of those microfiber towels? Is it worth it? My hair takes like 2 hours to fully dry too.

Sadly I've tried. I suffered through for like six months using only sulfate free products/shampoo and it didn't make a difference. I ended up at the derm and she gave me this crazy expensive foam which did the same thing as H&S.
My stylist hates it, lol. I color my hair too, so I know it trashes it, but I do it at home so not that expensive.
My scalp was glorious while I was pregnant but as soon as I gave birth it all came back with a vengeance.
Hmm. This may be what happened. I've basically been pregnant or nursing since 2012.
DevaCurl No Poo DevaCurl One Condition DevaCurl Arc AnGEL
Are the only 3 products I use.
I am married to them. They make my curls look amazing.
ETA I exclusively wear my hair curly.
Can you tell me more about the products you use? Do I need to have the special cut too? Asking because I saw your picture above and I think your hair looks great. I tend to only wear my hair curly as well but I struggle with it looking good some days.

Sure (and thank you for the compliment!). They are all no sulfates, no silicones, and completely water soluble so they don't leave any damaging build-up in your hair. They were developed by Lorraine Massey, who came up with the Curly Girl haircare method (basically what I just described--avoiding products with sulfates or silicones) which I used for years with other products before moving to DevaCurl.
I do get the DevaCut. I am fortunate to leave within an easy drive from a stylist who was one of the first people to learn the technique and he does an awesome job. It has really made a difference in how my hair looks, and I am finally able to grow it out a bit without it looking like it is taking over my whole life. BUT that said you don't NEED to have the DevaCut. The photo I posted above was before I had it.
Happy to answer any other questions you have. I have spent far too much time learning how to manage my hair. lol.
Since last night's was an old picture (pre-DevaCut) here is one I took of my hair just now.
DevaCurl users, is there a product that's more heavy duty, for lack of a better term? I've tried Miss Jessie's Jelly Curls and may as well have used nothing *-) Light-weight does not cut it for my hair. Sephora has a good bit of the line, I'm thinking about ordering this set tonight with my 15% off. www.sephora.com/must-have-curl-kit-P394900?skuId=1691963
Thanks for the info. I looked it up and I'm not far from a place that does the Deva cut. However, I'm hesitant because I had a Ouidad cut before and left unimpressed. Also, it was a long process of what I was supposed to do and use to maintain. I work from my home office 99.9% of the time and have a toddler..,I want to look good but not spend a ton of money or time when I likely won't be leaving my property that day

Yeah--it is a very personal decision. I looked into the Ouidad cut before but I think it is really different from the Deva. My friend goes to Ouidad but they scare me with their "carving" stuff. lol.
I also work from home and have a toddler but having pretty hair makes me feel better! One thing I will say is that I can go a lot longer between cuts with the Deva. With my old stylist my hair was looking overgrown every 3 months or less, and with the Deva I can easily go 6 months or more between trims (in fact right now I am about 5.5 months out from my last trim... going in in about a month for my next one). So even though my individual cuts are way more expensive, I pay about the same money annually overall (it is a little more with the Deva Cut but I also count that there is a COL difference between Los Angeles, where I live now, and Atlanta, where I had a traditional cut 4-5x a year).

I use an old t-shirt. The microfiber didn't work for me and it also gives me the heebie jeebies as far as touching it goes.
