I've read all three of the books you mentioned, and Tina Fey was my fav. Amy was a close second, though. Mindy's wasn't bad, but it was hard to top Tina's for me.

Ooh, good to know! I bought Bossypants, but haven't had a chance to read it yet. I'll have to pick that one up next.

I really liked this book. Bossypants is marvelous.
Michael Showalter has a great book called Mr. Funnypants. Same sort of comedic essays/memoir genre. It's absurd and wonderful. Michael Ian Black has a few good ones, too.

I didn't read this one, but Bossypants was great. The stories were fascinating and, of course, funny.
Mindy's book...meh. For someone I like so much, the book was just okay. I hate when people describe something as trying too hard, but it's as if she just kept nudging you and saying "Look! A joke! FUNNY!".
I did not like this book. Especially the end where she waxes on and on and on and on about Parks & Rec and how fabulous it was.
Should that contain a spoiler?
ETA: I read Mindy Kaling and Tina Fey and they were hilarious. Don't even bother with Kristen Chenowith's book. She interjects these weird, "Praisejesusmylordandsavioramen" moments throughout. Totally ruins the pacing. (This was the audio book.)
I listened to the audiobook, which I liked in part due to the special guests-Seth Meyers, Carol Burnett, Kathleen Turner. I thought that made it more fun.

I'm in the middle of Mindy's book now and this is exactly how I feel about. I'm kind of disappointed and ready to be done with it.

I loved this book! Tina Fey's, I thought, was funnier, but Yes Please was a little more...girl power? If that makes sense? I really enjoyed it overall.
I loved Amy's book. Tina's was my favorite though Mindy's was good too.
A friend just recommended Jim Gaffigan's books. I have a hold on them at the library. Anyone read them?
I haven't read his books but Jim Gaffigan is hilarious. I didn't know he had written any books so I will definitely be checking them out as well! I bet they're pretty funny.

Amy is very much Girl Power always. She doesn't turn it off.

I feel like the only person who didn't like this book! I gave up half way through. I found it not very funny, hard to relate to (I guess I don't have kids and haven't been divorced?) and also not very linear. I never was wondering 'oooh, what happens next?' because it's in no particular order and also not very interesting. I've read Tina's and Mindy's too and liked Tina's best, but still didn't love it. I guess this genre isn't for me! I totally get the 'Look at ME! I'm FUNNY!' comment too as I found most of it was trying to be funny, but nowhere near as funny as they are on tv. I could see the audiobooks being marginally better, but I think I'll just avoid these books in the future.
