I'm having extreme deep tissue massage in about an hour for my shoulders. I was planning on going to the pool immediately after and doing an LSD workout. No sprints, just easy laps. So I was googling to see if it was ok to wear my suit to my appointment (LOL) and EVERYTHING I read about extreme deep tissue indicates that you should rest for 24 hours after to allow the massage to actually work.
Damn.
So, should I wear my suit anyhow and see what the therapist says? Plan on just coming straight home after? Kick myself for doing something so stupid? WWYD?

Oh man. I'd plan to rest. Sorry! I have always been told to take it easy for a day after.
Damn. That's what I figured, although I was hoping not...
Given that, WTH do I wear? I'm presuming this isn't a relaxing massage in any way shape or form, so ... sports bra and workout pants? Just wear my swimsuit anyhow?
I try to take it easy for 24 hours post-massage. And I don't wear anything for my massages...
Me too! I'm usually going straight from work, and then I wish I had schlubby clothes, because they smell like the coconut oil she uses. Yoga pants sound good.

Ok, so ... I went. Wore swimsuit, t-shirt, and sweatpants, all they wanted me to take off was my shoes.
OMG.
The guy was all "yeah, you have some serious knots here." And apparently the tissue around the pectoralis attachment is a mess. Like the source of all pain. He hit that spot and I thought I was going to cry. Or vomit. (I did neither, FYI.) I have to go back once a week for 3 weeks.

Nice. I started wearing waterproof mascara to my massages. Hope it helps you!!

I really hope this helps! Sounds like a good type of hurt today? Maybe? Either way it's needed. Did they say if you could swim again tomorrow or recommend a specific length of rest? Good luck!

I get a massage at least once/month. I have odd neck and shoulder issues and have for years. It and using a tennis ball to get out knots are the only things that help.
