I vote go to the dr.
I had a similar bronchitis/sinus infection/acts like pneumonia but the X-ray was clear late February into March. I was on Zpac plus prednisone, then back in for a shot of steroid, shot of antibiotic, 10 days of Levaquin and more prednisone, then back for 7 days of omnicef. That finally got it. I was doing nebulizer treatments at home 3x a day and the codeine cough syrup. They added Allegra instead of Claritin and started me on singulair also and 3 months of symbicort to help relieve the inflammation in my lungs v
Allergy season has sucked extra badly this year for me. I hope you feel better.
I've got the codeine cough syrup, and just finished the round of levaquin (levofloxacin). Doesn't touch it. I'm taking zyrtec (as always) for my allergies.
Levoquin is in the flouroquinolone class of antibiotics they are decently broad spectrum and have nice respiratory penetration. But supressing the cough with codeine may be working against you. A specialist has fine tweaks that might put you on recovery quicker. Sounds like you have been down for a while wishes for a speedy recovery.
I had something similar that was a lung infection that turned into walking pneumonia. They gave me an antibiotic to treat my lungs specifically and that seemed to be the only thing that helped. And that was after several different abx, inhaler, etc.
There is a really really nasty cold going around that takes weeks to kick. My friends had it for 6 weeks. I only had it for 2. Drink tea with lemon and honey and ginger root. Use a humidifier. Get lots of rest. Drink fluids. Take a sick day if you can to do absolutely nothing. I hope you feel better soon!!
I've been coughing since mid-February. It's horrid. I've had 3 rounds of antibiotics and steroids. My inhaler started giving me heart palpitations, so I stopped using it. My rib cage hurts so badly from coughing, but I finally feel like I'm getting a tad bit better.
