My training and motivation have been in the toilet lately. I'm heading up a study abroad in London in May, and I decided to look and see if there were any races while I was there. I found a 10k that's touted as flat, so I emailed my H and said "We are doing this."
I'm hoping that having something neat to look forward to and work towards will help kick my ass back in gear.
I did a 5 mile race in Dublin on vacation with another couple (the wife is a runner, so we ran and the boys cheered). I was surprised to be running a race measured in MILES rather than KM in Europe.

This just made me panic and go back and double check that it was a 10K, and not 10 miles. It's a 10k. PHEW!
So fun! I really want to do an international race. I actually just discovered (and pointed out to DH), that the 2016 Rome marathon is on our anniversary. While timing won't work for next year, we agreed to make it an anniversary trip one year.
Cool! I have my eyes set on an international triathlon next year, but the transportation/rental of gear is a logistical nightmare. I should find a race inst5.

One of my long shot bucket list items, is to do Speight's Coast to Coast w/DH. (The 2 day tandem.) But the logistics seem like they would be tough. Plus, as long as we're in FL, I'm not really sure how one of us will get grade 2 certified for the rapids. LOL

Which area of London is it in? I can give you suggestions for food places, etc afterwards (and let you know if it is truly flat (though much of London is). ps. Welcome to my city (in May) - have fun with studying abroad! Feel free to pm me if you have questions or an emergency (you can ask about me on the ML or IN board - I'm not a stalker).

So fun! I thought about trying to find a race when we are in France/Belgium later this year, but I don't really want to stop eating/drinking long enough to run.

This is why I have yet to do a race on vacation. I've taken vacations FOR races, but not just added one to an existing trip. I don't want to give up half a day of all of the other vacation fun! Maybe if it was a shorter race.
That's awesome. Do you know the course or neighborhood for the race?
I do - it's in Bushy Park. It looks like it will take us 45 minutes to get there on the Tube, but it also looks nice and flat.
Had to look that up. It's right by Hampton Court Palace and just past Kew Gardens, very nice area and those were some of my favorite places to visit over there. And yes, very flat based on my memory
