I had my first with an OBGYN practice almost 4.5 years ago. After my l&d and post-c complications and my OB, whom I loved, merging with a still larger practice, I left them for midwives even for my annual GYN care. This was my first prenatal visit with them and I cannot believe how different it was. The midwife sat and talked with me for nearly an hour (I was still fully clothed) going over my history and the details of my first pregnancy and awful experience, as well as all my testing options throughout this pregnancy.
Somewhat to my disappointment, but not surprise, she said I might not be a VBAC candidate. There are a lot of unanswered questions to my situation, so I have to get all my medical records and she said we'd meet with a MFM they partner with to go over everything to make an informed decision. She also said if I have a repeat C, my experience will be totally different than the first time around.
i didn't get an u/s since I already had one at 6w1d and there was a HB. They did that first major blood draw and she said if anything comes back funky then she'll send me for a follow up u/s. I'll go for my NT in 4 weeks and they'll also do Panorama blood work at my 12 week appt.
My blood pressure was high, which is concerning. It was high at my annual in January, so I cleaned up my diet and was exercising more. My mom (a cardiac nurse) was monitoring it and said yes it's on the high side, but she wasn't concerned. But now being PG, it's a little more serious. My uncle is a cardiologist so I'm going to have a formal appointment with him before my next midwife appt to see what's up. Even when. Not eating my best, I tend to eat really well, but I could definitely up my cardio. Hoping I can manage it just with diet and exercise, but it might also play a part in determining if I can do a TOL or not.
Overall I feel good about it, but not great. I'm scared - I'm nervous about having a second baby (we were on the fence about it), I'm nervous about delivering this baby either way (I feel like both options suck), and I still have 1st tri anxiety because I know it's still really early. MH is ready to start telling people. We'll tell our close friends this weekend bc we have a party and they'll totally call me out for not drinking anyway, my family already knows. Not telling my daughter until after NT, though, but I feel like she knows something is up. So that's where we are at this point... It's all starting to become very real.
Wow that is a lot to process. It sounds as though you have a good medical team backing you up and that they are prepared to be reactive to your concerns and condition. I have absolute faith that everything will turn out better for you on this second trip around the block, least of all since you will be better educated and prepared, as is your medical team.
Big hugs - the first tri really messes with your mind.
My blood pressure went up high for me during first tri and then levelled right down to normal after 12 weeks. I also bloated a lot initially. I think it's something that comes with the territory but it's good to be proactive about it if it's a concern. I just wouldn't start any heavy-duty dieting or exercising based on that number. Your blood volume increases much faster than I expected.

My BP was on the high side during 1st tri as well, and then came down a bit in 2nd tri. I also tend to just register a higher BP when I'm at the doctor's office in general (anxiety I guess? but literally I'll get 20 points higher for the systolic number). I usually go to a pharmacy the day before my appointments and use the machine there to check it to see where it really falls. I had practically diagnosed myself with pre-eclampsia in 1st tri. So in summary, YES we are all head cases in 1st tri! It is a LOT to process. Feel free to vent here as often as needed!

That's a lot to process. Easier said than done, but try not to get ahead of yourself. Sounds like you have a good team of professionals on your side that will lead the way. You're being proactive and are taking all the right steps to make the pregnancy as healthy as possible.

OMG yes - the nurses always measure my blood pressure the second I come back from trying to pee in a cup. It's through the roof. Five minutes later I'm back to normal. My doctor keeps on double checking my pressure since by the end of the appointment it's dropped right down.
