What do you think of this for the master vanity? There would be 2 of them. They are each 4 ft wide, on a 9 ft wall, so there would be about 4 inches on each side and in between. I was hoping for something a little less "heavy", but wanted furniture style and the builder had very few choices. It comes with the top pictured, faucet would be different. The room is a literal blank slate right now. At some point I think it'd be nice to do some kind of wainscoting on the walls.
This is what we picked for the half bath downstairs. I would've gone with the matching larger size for the master, but while this size has actual drawers, the bigger size has false drawers that really just open like a door. That seemed to take form over function just a little too far.
I don't think I'd want only 4 inches between them. I'd either want more space or a continuous vanity with 2 sinks in that space.
How big is the small version? Would two of those look okay? You could even put a storage piece in between.
The small one is 31". So two of them would take up about 5 of the 9 ft of wall space. Also it would be a lot less storage. Maybe we won't need that much storage? Ionically, there is no linen closet for this bathroom, but we do have his and hers walk in closets right next door.
The vanity in my master bathroom is 2-3" from the wall and I hate it because stuff falls in that gap all the time.
Ours is currently about an inch from the wall and I drop stuff too, jewelry mostly. We currently share a 4ft vanity, so I am practically giddy at the idea of getting one all to myself! I'm convinced that means I won't be so crowded that stuff gets too close to the edge. We'll see
So here's a pic I found of 2 vanities relatively close together. This seems fine to me, but they are not as chunky as what we are getting, maybe that makes a difference.
We had a similar style vanity in our old house that we shared. With all of the drawer space and the storage below, we never even had stuff on the counter to worry about dropping anything. I had my make up organized in the drawer and just used it and put it right back. I think it was the most organized we have ever been, and it was easy to keep clean.
We currently have a small gap between the vanity and wall in our main bath, and I have dropped a couple of things down the side, but it wasn't a big deal. At least having furniture style (or like ours, wall hung) it makes it easier to find what you have dropped.
This is going to be like talking about baby names, right? When I tell you my ideas ahead of time, everyone will cringe and offer honest criticism. But then when I show you the finished product you will all just cringe silently and tell me it looks great. lol!
I like the piece. I'm also concerned about spacing. I like what mrs.jacinthe suggested. Is that an option?
But yes, you're right. Ask before and you'll get all kinds of opinions. Ask after and you'll get lots of support. Partially because people are nice, and partially because it looks better if you're not thinking of all of the other available options.
