Thanks for the recommendations. Are you referring to the free Hot Springs? I noticed on trip advisor there are more than just one.

We did white water rafting from Arenal and it was really fun. Haven't been to the other cities you are going to.

I went to Ecotermales Fortuna hot springs. It isn't free but isn't too expensive. Loved having a pina colada while bathing and saw our first monkeys while soaking there too!
One thing to keep in mind is that it takes for freaking ever to get from one place to another. The roads are often one lane in each direction, winding through towns and mountains.
In your list, I've only been to Arenal. If you go to any of the national parks, get a guide - they are a wealth of information and will spot animals that you will never be able to find on your own. We did Ecoteramales hot springs. Was pretty crowded on the day we went. We also did the hot springs at The Springs resort. It had just opened and there was no one there. I was in the hot springs by myself - it was awesome (ex-h was watching football at the swim up bar...oy).

Where will you be in Guanacaste? We were in Playas del Coco a couple years ago and did a day trip to Rincon de la Vieja national park. We did an easy hike to a waterfall there.
