I was going to race on Sunday, but it is going to rain and storm badly on Saturday. The trail that Sunday's mountain bike race is at is a mess without 24 hours to dry out. I am picking my bike up at the shop today from being cleaned from last weekend's race. I'm hopefully going to race in a couple of weeks. I'll get in one long road ride this weekend. This is the big Athens Twilight and Roswell Crit weekend in Athens-Atlanta. I'll be hanging out at Roswell with my camera photographing the pros.
Iim doing a 59 mile relay. I'd like to say I'm excited, but I got pretty sick the other night. I do feel better, but not great. I have to run two legs, 6.5 and 3.4 miles. I haven't run over 3 miles in a very, very long time. It should hurt but hopefully it will be fun!
I have a 5k. I have a title to defend. LOL! We'll see how that goes. I'm not optimistic about my performance, but this isn't a very competitive 5k (as evidenced by my last year's 1st place female finish), so I should still do well in placing.
I'm signed up for a 5K, but I'm not even sure I'll do it. My friend who I signed up for can't come anymore, and I would just be running it as a tempo. I also feel exhausted. Maybe I'll just go, warm up for a few, and call 5 miles good for my long run.
I can't believe this weekend has arrived. Pray this rest has been what my knee needed. HOnestly it could go either way. I've had shitty runs during training where my knee just aches and then a few days later run pain free - so hopefully this extreme taper and the endless rolling and three horrific massages were enough.
I'm bib number 4688 if anyone is bored enough to follow along sunday. My plan is to go out slow - I trained for 9min/mile, but I'll go with the 11min/mile group to get warmed up and feel out how my knee is going to do. I think I'll know in the first 5K how it's going to go down. If I'm pain free, then I'll pick up my pace after that and see what I can do, though I'm not going to push it. If I'm in real pain, I'm going to bail. If Im somewhere in the middle, then I'll just take it one mile at a time I guess
In any case, I"m looking forward to a break from running after this. I want to get on my bike and get in the pool!
I've only run once this week, in an effort to rest my hamstring so am nervous about that. But I'd be more upset if I went out there and blew something, so it is what it is I guess. Excited to run through downtown and some historic sites, but am not expecting a half PR (thank you Wineglass, super-flat course).
It is my 1st time on this course though, so it's an automatic course PR at least :-)
thom not this time around. My original plan at the start of this training cycle was sub 1:50, but the leg issue I had plaguing me for most of the winter and early spring kind of put a kink in that. In a perfect world I'd run a faster time than when I did this race in 2012 (when I went out too fast and it messed with my head so I ended up walking parts of the race) but really I'd be happy with anything under 2 hours.
I'm so happy for you that you're going for it, ktzmoh! That sounds like a good strategy. Sending a prayer to the universe for pain free running.
I've got my last long run this weekend, 20-22. Thank god we don't have big plans this week, so I don't have to start as early as last time, and can rest after.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
I need to watch the weather. I really wanted to do my own tri (swim in my neighborhood pool, ride and run around my neighborhood with my house as 'transition'), but my best day to do it is tomorrow, and it's supposed to storm. UGH. I feel like everything is working against me.
I'm doing an arm balance yoga workshop on Sunday that I am SUPER excited about.

Good luck everyone! labbie I sadly won't be joining you for this one - my knee just isn't feeling it. I'm "donating" my race fee. You've got this though. Everyone that I know who has run this one loves it. Lots of crowd support going through the neighborhoods. Fingers crossed for no snow!!
@mandiespharm I'm sorry about your knee- I hope you feel better soon. Yes Lord, please no snow- and re. the neighborhood support I read that Fleet Feet donates $$ to the neighborhood with the best support, to be put towards a neighborhood improvement project- I thought that was a genius way to get people out!

Shut the front door. I expect to hear all about how much it sucked you defending your title.

LOL! I know. Once, maaaaaybe twice a year, you guys get to see "5k" and "clseale" in the same post. I make an exception for this race. It just happens to be the Annual Crawfish Festival in Woodbine, GA. It's kind of a big deal. We drive an hour for it!
Actually, I do it for my friend. She organizes it every year, and it's in memory of a friend/co-worker of her's who was killed by a drunk driver. All proceeds go to a child advocacy group she worked with. Good cause, plus it ensures I run at least one 5k a year. PLUS, the only bar in town, Captain Stan's, opens early for us and serves us beer at 10 AM.

That's one way to get people out. I did not know that they did that!

I've got a 10K this weekend. My right iliopsoas tendon has been sore, so I've stretched and rested it all week. Im hoping its feeling better by race time.
