I have the Columbia Half, which I'm pretty much treating as a long run. Especially with the icky forecast. But I'm looking forward to running it. I'm always happy to get a free tshirt.
I can't believe this weekend has arrived. Pray this rest has been what my knee needed. HOnestly it could go either way. I've had shitty runs during training where my knee just aches and then a few days later run pain free - so hopefully this extreme taper and the endless rolling and three horrific massages were enough.
I'm bib number 4688 if anyone is bored enough to follow along sunday. My plan is to go out slow - I trained for 9min/mile, but I'll go with the 11min/mile group to get warmed up and feel out how my knee is going to do. I think I'll know in the first 5K how it's going to go down. If I'm pain free, then I'll pick up my pace after that and see what I can do, though I'm not going to push it. If I'm in real pain, I'm going to bail. If Im somewhere in the middle, then I'll just take it one mile at a time I guess
In any case, I"m looking forward to a break from running after this. I want to get on my bike and get in the pool!
I've got instant notifications set up already . I will be cheering you on!
Well, shit. Came home & started puking. My coworker was out sick yesterday. Unless this is the world's shortest stomach bug, the title will have to go to someone else. I'm so bummed. So many of my friends are going. We always have so much fun. The awards are cute too.

NOOOOOO!!!! That stinks.
It might not be as bad as I thought. I started feeling sick around 3 (at work) and threw up 5 times between 5-7:30, but I'm actually feeling considerably better. A headache, but that's it. So weird. I feel off, but not laid out like I did when I had my last stomach bug. It might just be the medicine DH gave me, but I've eaten & everything. So far so good. I'm going to sip some warm Gatorade, go to bed, and see how I feel in the morning. Maybe I can still go? I wasn't planning on a PR or anything, but I still want to be part of the fun, damn it.
clseale are you feeling better? Hope you were able to make it to the race.
Thanks! It winded up being okay! I didn't throw up any more last night. It came out of nowhere & passed just as quickly. When I woke up, I felt tired & a little weak, but my stomach was settled, so I decided to go. 22:04 is definitely not a PR (though only off by about 20 sec), but it was enough! (Though there was a moment at mile two when I got burpy & a bit worried.) lol
It probably wasn't the smartest move, because now I have a massive headache & feel like I was hit by a truck, but I'm going to sleep the day away. I'm happy I was able to participate. It also makes me realize that I probably COULD PR right now, but it's getting ready to be so hot. Idk. I might wait until the fall to try again.
Awh, congrats clseale!!! Even when you're down you are still the fastest. Now enjoy some relaxation and some edibles and drinks if your stomach lets you.
Thanks, girls! It definitely helps that I've obviously gotten faster over the last year, so even though I definitely wasn't feeling 100% & had a sub-par performance, I was able to pull off a win. Yay for small town races!! This race also has a few nice turns & hairpins so I could keep an eye on 2nd place. I only had to push myself enough to stay ahead of her! When I crossed the finish line, my breathing wasn't at 5k effort max, but my body was done. I'm pleased given the circumstances. It was fun & I so rarely say that about 5ks.
DH had such a great morning. He took over a minute off of his time & busted through 20 min w/ 19:46. He's making such big improvements!
Congrats on the win clseale! Even if it wasn't 100% for you, it was still and awesome job.
Thanks! Honestly, even before I started feeling yucky, I wasn't expecting much better than what I did. LOL I'd like to get back to consistently seeing 21:XX, but I run 5ks so infrequently, I'm just proud when I make myself get out there. They are, without question, my weakest distance.

Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
We will see. I am recovering from a kidney stone (yowza, the pain!). I meant to do 2 miles tonight but I napped longer than planned. Tomorrow I am missing a race because we are hosting my friends bridal shower, so I am pretty bummed out about that. I hope to get out in the morning for a little bit.
