VT people -- BVT to Montpelier? Also, hotel rec?

What's the best way to get from BTV to Montpelier?  Rental car will be $120 but I won't need it once I'm in Montpelier (a coworker will have a rental car).  I'll rent a car if that's the cheapest highly convenient option, but if a car service or shuttle is cheaper and won't take much longer, I'll do that.

Also, any recommendations for hotels near downtown Montpelier?  Capitol Plaza appears to be all booked up for our dates.

Renting a car and taking 89 is the fastest/easiest route between Burlington and Montpelier. 
There is actually a limited stop bus as well, and only slightly longer (just over an hour vs 45 min). I just checked- it's route 86. That might not be a bad option, especially since you'll likely spend more time getting there if you factor in the time it takes to get/return the rental car!

I dont have any hotel recs, though. Sorry! Try a B&B instead, or even a VRBO.

I used to live in the Burlington area and went to school there!

As the PP said, I89 is the fastest way to get between the two cities and it will take about 45 mins or so. There's not much in between.

I'm not too familiar with hotels in Montpelier. Are you just going to Burlington for fun or is that where you need to go for work?

We have two days of meetings in Montpelier. I'll be flying into Burlington and heading to Montpelier from there. My coworker from another office will be flying into Manchester NH and driving from there (her flight options to BTV were ridiculous), so she'll definitely have a rental car. Going in late June.
