Why did the turkey cross the Silver Comet Trail? I'm not sure, but it was cool.
I did a recovery ride after work today because it was so beautiful out. I was a few miles into the ride and heard this guy in the brush off to the side of the trail. I rolled past quietly and stopped to see if he'd come out. A minute later, he sauntered across the trail. This part of the trail is usually really busy, so I was surprised no one came along in the 2-3 minutes I was waiting for him. I have seen deer, rattlesnakes, possums, raccoons, and other wildlife (and chickens when they get out of their coop around mile 4...lots of chickens) out there but never a turkey. This part of the trail is in the middle of the burbs.
Like I said, I've never seen a turkey before out here. You can't see them, but houses line either side of the trail at this point. They are about 100 yards on either side, so I was pretty surprised he was there. Maybe it is the same turkey that took up residence in my neighborhood a few years ago around Thanksgiving. No hunting in the burbs.....
We have turkeys up here. There was one that hung out in my neighborhood for a while. Ironically, there are a ton of thrm where the turkey trot i do is (its around a lake in a park). Theyre so big and stupid lol
