My sister is driving me crazy today. I cut off my grandparents, as did a few others in my extended family in the fall. My sister is now blowing up my phone calling me selfish since I'm not going to a birthday party today. I so wish she would hit rock bottom so she can get on meds to stabilize her moods. I hate dealing with her so damn much.
L just drew and wrote this all by herself this morning. She likes to play this game where we take turns drawing pictures for each other on the magnadoodle. I'm pretty sure she's the next Picasso.
Happy Saturday! I'm headed to the hospital for a chest x-ray! Ugh. I'm very likely fine. But when I told the doctor yesterday that I had been coughing for a month, he ordered a chest x-ray just to be sure it's not something serious.
I don't know if anyone has posted about the earthquake in Nepal, but it's awful. Seeing all the pictures and hearing the stories... awful.
I hope you're okay. I've also been coughing for awhile and went to the doctor for the second time today in two weeks. It's definitely just bronchitis, but he prescribed prednisone this time and it seems to be helping a bit. Maybe that would work for you?
I posted about Nepal upthread a bit. Those numbers are going to rise drastically. It's just devastating, but it's an incredibly good thing it didn't happen closer than 50 miles from Kathmandu proper or at night. The numbers would be so much higher.

I've been painting the walls in my living room that had vaulted ceilings all day, which is a big pain in the ass. Took a break to grab a few things from Home Depot and I'm irrationally pissed at how put-together all the chicks here look while I'm covered in paint and wearing my least favorite bum clothes. It's like the blogger type that somehow always looks flawless despite the fact that they've been putting chalkboard paint on everything.

Grumpgrumpgrump.
I felt like a huge ass house waddling around Home Depot today. Every woman looked stunning and well organized. My hair was frizzy and blah. I had no makeup on. I feel you.

We only heard bits and pieces on the radio. We swapped stations quickly since DD was in the car. They mentioned 1200 people.
ETA: I hate when these disasters happen and idiots scream "help America first!" I'm waiting for my FB to fill up. I wish people understood these countries have nothing when a natural disaster hits. Their hospitals are down, water is hard to get, resources are low. They need our fucking help!!

It's 1,400 now, but they're going to get a lot higher.
Had it been closer to Kathmandu, though, or at night (or if school had been in session, which it wasn't) we would have seen numbers in the tens of thousands.

That is a blessing, yet still horrible. I'm going go find an article to look it up.

Yes, it's devastating. Two of the three people I know who live there have checked-in, but I'm still waiting to hear from the third. One of my former coworkers lived there for several years and is still waiting to hear from a number of people. Electricity is a problem right now, obviously, and there are many people under the rubble, so it will be awhile before a lot of people know their loved ones are okay.

Thanks. I won't know anything about the x-ray until Monday. I feel like garbage, and the doctor just told me to use Flonase.
My dd and I spent the day looking at new places to live. The town next to us has amazing schools and we really want to live there.
I found a new build that would be amazing to buy but my dd would rather rent. The rental has a yard which it seems is hard to find in the new construction areas. They all have common yard space and no real boundries.
I think I actually agree this time. So I sent an awkard email to the landlord of the place we want specifying my income and history in hopes of landing the perfect place.
And now I feel all dumb and desperate. Put good thoughts out there for us. I hope it works out and my email didn't come across too strong.
Uhg... I am so ready to be settled down. My dd will be a freshman in hs this year and I really want to give her a few years of stability before she goes off to college. I wish I could have done it sooner but maybe if I can do it now it will still count.
So pissed at myself. My Brownie troop did a badge event to earn a dance badge today and tomorrow we're going to Microsoft to earn a computer expert badge. In all of this, the service unit had a roller skate night set up. I had it on my calendar for Sunday for some reason. It was on Saturday. I had totally planned on going as had a few others of our girls. I am so ticked at myself. OTOH, I did send a copy of the flyer to all the parents and not a single other person noticed it was Saturday instead of Sunday. So I'll console myself with that. Dammit.
I had my house cleaned by a cleaning service, my ducts cleaned out and carpets cleaned about four weeks ago. We have an infestation of little bugs. Turns out they're carpet beetles. They're coming in through windows (I thought cleaning the vents would have helped but I've been finding them on window sills since we had the vents done.) I had an exterminator in yesterday, after all that work was done. Haven't found the source where they're nesting so it's back next month and bi-monthly for the next year until we can be sure they're all gone. So check the flowers you bring in from outside (this may be how mine got here in the first place), make sure you close doors and screens behind you and trim back your plants at least 12 inches from exterior walls so these suckers don't get in, because it's like getting rid of lice once they're in.
There was something else that I'm forgetting, so you're welcome.
We are at the new place trying to hang blinds. This is a long ass process. Now DD is puking and feels like crap. We have nothing here. I grabbed the Home Depot bag and gave her my hair tie. H is heading to get cleaning supplies and more TP and paper towels. I don't think we are getting the blinds hung today.
Aw, I hope DD is okay.
As for hanging the blinds, if they're horizontals and you're doing inside mounts, here's a shortcut I like to use (first, put the blinds by the windows where they'll be installed): Take one set of brackets (L and R) and a pencil and go through the house, setting the brackets where they should be mounted and marking the hole locations with the pencil (you really only need two holes, upper and lower on opposite sides; make the brackets about 1/4" or so from the front of the window frame and slightly lower to allow for valance and clips). Have DH go behind you and drill where you marked. After you mark where the blinds should go you can go behind him and start installing the brackets. When he's done drilling, he can join you on the installing blinds. For center supports, double check the locations of the internal mechanics before you drill where they go, because some will need to be slightly off-set. Install the valance clips in the header before you install the blinds...it's a lot easier to do it then than after the blind is mounted.
ETA: for shortcut rather than "I would have typed the tricks if I'd known you were hanging blinds.")
