You guys, I am at the end of my rope here. Patrick had his laser tongue tie revision done 10 days ago. The day of the surgery, he weighed 10 pounds, 10 ounces. Five days later, he weighed 11 pounds even, so a 6 ounce gain.
I weighed him again today and he is back down to 10 pounds, 10 ounces. I nursed him and he went up to 10 pounds, 13 ounces afterwards, so I know he is getting a decent amount of milk. He just started daycare this week and is taking four 4 ounce bottles plus nursing once before he goes and two or three times in the evening. He wakes up once overnight and nurses for a long time usually. I bought a baby scale so all these weights have been taken on the same scale, no clothes or diaper on.
Do you think this warrants a call to the pediatrician?

No, since he just started daycare this very week and his body may still be adjusting to the new schedule.
Question since I don't know the backstory - has he been diagnosed as FTT to cause you to need to weigh him so frequently at home, or is that part of the post-tounge tie process?

I think the fact that you know he got three oz from you is a good sign. It could just be a growth spurt. Do you think he is more active since he started daycare? Has he started rolling recently? I don't think I would call at this point.
Frustrating, but I don't think it's necessary to call to the pediatrician. If it'll make you feel better, than by all means call!
Are you doing weighted feedings each time or just here and there? The changes could be daycare (new routine) or just fluctuations from morning to night.

I think weight fluctuations are normal. Especially since he weighs the same as he did 10 days ago. I don't know if there's a back story, did you pediatrician recommend that you weigh him frequently?

No FTT diagnosis yet but pedi wants us keeping a close eye on his weight. I'm technically supposed to go to the office BF group every week for weight checks but now that I'm back at work I can't.
I've only been weighing him once or twice a week. I only did the weighted feed because I freaked out at the 6 ounce loss.
Yes. Probably 8-10 wet diapers a day. He only poops 1-2 times a week but so did his brother.
I think as long as there are no other changes and still having dirty diapers I wouldn't worry too much. You could call the doctors office just to be sure for peace of mind though.
My girls did this sometimes. Actually, all 3 of mine have always been very tall then wider kids meaning they gain then get taller and during those taller periods it wasn't uncommon for them to drop some weight. I wouldn't worry too much just yet especially given that you know he got 3oz from you. 3oz is a full feed so you know he is eating!
It was also very noticeable whenever K picked up in the activity department be it rolling, kicking more, crawling etc. She always seemed to drop some.
Were all weights done on the same scale? If they're calibrated differently, that can make a big difference. Last poopy/wet diaper, time of day, activity level changes, etc. can all make a difference, too. I know that feels like a big difference to you, but it's not that much. The 11lb weight could be the outlier, that's probably most likely, so he's not losing, just not gaining much...yet.
It's easy for me to say not to worry because I've never been there. I always support calling the pedi office if you're even a little concerned. That's why they have nurses to answer the phones! I promise they've heard FAR less concerning questions.
I don't know what scale you have, but I know my scale (which was about $60 on Amazon, maybe you have a fancier one) is hard to get a good read on, especially as they start to wiggle more. I got it when DS was about P's age and sometimes think it did more harm than good in terms of my worrying. If he was wiggling at all and the number took a while to lock, it might have been a misreading at the higher weight. I wouldn't worry, I know, easier said than done.
If you weigh a baby enough, you'll see that they gain some days and lose others. Things such as not eating as much, nursing much longer even if empty, being more active, pooping more, etc. can affect weight.
I did notice that you met with an LC that said your DS may not be getting to the fatty hind milk. That could slow his weight gain. Does it seem like he's emptying you?
