Today was not MM for us either and it wasn't for fun stuff.
H runs over our patio stairs while backing out of the drive way and punctures tire: $130 and we miss swimming lessons my WW meeting, and our trip to the zoo.
He parks the other car on the street facing the wrong direction: $45 ticket
Bday present for MIL: $50
DQ Blizzards to try and salvage the day: $11 (and totally worth it!)

So my parents had to pinch hit today since H is OOC at a board meeting and I had to go to a friend's memorial service. They had friends visiting, but whatever, they're nice people who like kids. So they came over with their friends to watch DD for me. I had to drag my mom away from a convo with the plumber (who was also here, my house was a zoo) to tell her what DD should have for dinner, where her pjs are, etc. Clearly that wasn't her priority, but whatever. Meanwhile, her friend is cuddled up reading to DD on the couch.
Apparently my sister wanted to see the friends, so my mom invited her over with her 2 kids, and the friend invited her cousin and husband over. So while my H and I were out, there were 14 FUCKING PEOPLE in our house. HOW IS THIS OK? I am as uptight as my parents think I am for being kind of pissed about this?
chickens987 that's not cool. I would be pretty upset about that many people at my house when neither homeowner is there.
Ah, therein lies the issue!
This is our house - but they own it. It was unmortgageable when we bought it, so they shelled out the cash and our plan is to buy it from them when the major renos are done. We have a lease and we pay them rent every month, and they would argue that it's our house through and through, but times like this it doesn't feel authentic.
C took another amazing three hour nap after ECFE class, then played outside for hours with H while I went shopping. I was able to find an inexpensive, good looking suit jacket for my job interview, which is fantastic since we're on a budget.
Now C is down for the night, I'm watching Friends With Benefits and browsing Pinterest. I so need a relaxing night at home.

humpforfree, we are home tonight. Really glad we didn't leave the peninsula today. I do feel a little bad that I didn't go to the peaceful protests earlier today though.

I feel bad that this will overshadow the protests this afternoon. Also, the people stuck in cars for hours. Omg.

What were these protests? Police stuff?
Protests over the death of Freddie Gray. He was arrested (questionably so) and died in police custody. It's terrible.
There have been protests for days. I saw a ton of cops out around city hall and the police bldg when I was downtown Friday. And I saw protesters walking up light street in between cars before the police got it blocked off. Crazy.
I'm currently lying on the floor of DS's room. He is so over tired and won't fall asleep. Every time I leave the room he stands up in his crib and starts crying. DH took this pic on the monitor.
He didn't nap well today and then we went to an event at his school - moonbounce, petting zoo, etc. so this kid is totally spent. We put him down at his normal bedtime but geez. Although this has never happened before so I guess I shouldn't complain. But I'm hungry!!
My moms group had its spring consignment sale today- I'm exhausted from working at it, but happy to have gotten rid of the pack n plays and a bunch of other stuff.

I think my child will just be shoeless from now on. This morning we were at the butterfly exhibit and he dropped his shoe into the stream. It took quite a bit of effort for one of the employees to rescue the shoe. So he walked around the rest of the botanical gardens in just his socks. Then tonight, I got out his new Keens and halfway through running errands he starts complaining about this shoes. I take them off and he had blisters on his feet.
DH started demolition work on our backyard patio project this afternoon. He had to use a jackhammer to break up some old concrete and DD took a 3-hour nap in the middle of all the deafening noise. Incredible.

I went out and had a mani/pedi today which was wonderful. When I got back, DH told me DS2 woke less than two minutes after a left and DS1 woke hard two hours later. He didn't get anything done that he planned to do. Welcome to my day, DH.
We did go on a lovely walk around 5:00 p.m. and decided to walk to the local burger place and pick up take out and walk home. I love our area, but I love it so much more in the nice weather. We can walk everywhere. It helps me remember that although our home has challenges, it is so nice when we can be outdoors.
Waiting for laundry to finish and going to have tea. Hoping to go to bed early, I'm exhausted.

I forgot how much busier we are on the weekends when the weather is nice and we can go places and play outside with ease. The kids and I ran all over the place today. It was nice actually! DS was so excited about all the "fun things" we did, including eating out and going to a local fair, and having a play date. He wants to go to the library and the park tomorrow, so will be busy again tomorrow. But it's welcome!

H is out with friends at a concert and ds is asleep so I am enjoying a nice quiet night.
I need to get ds's 2nd birthday invitations ordered soon. I want to do photo cards and am having the hardest time picking pictures. I want them to be just right and am making way to big a deal about it. They are only going to family!
Also, I want ice cream and we don't have any. I wish there was ice cream delivery.

@bunnybean, sorry I didn't respond sooner, I had to put M to bed. Thanks to mcfelix for clarifying. The helicopters have been going steady for over four hours now. I am so sad for my city. I am sad that the important message of the protests will be overshadowed by violence. They are not letting people out of the baseball game. The mayor is about to talk.

I'm watching the kids in the bath while DH runs out and grabs us some dinner.
Looking forward to just chilling on the couch and going to bed early tonight. We have a busy day tomorrow with church, a 1st bday party and a bbq with DH's friends.
