H's total is 170 but he has moderately high triglycerides and his good cholesterol is pretty low.
I got the best category for life insurance premiums but H got two categories down.
We have changed our diet drastically since finding out and are starting to exercise. He will go to the doctor in about a month to see if his numbers change with lifestyle changes.
The last time I gave blood it was 101 and I thought that was good but it didn't tell me what my "good" cholesterol was. A doctor friend said the number is fine but you really need to know what your good and bad cholesterol is and I don't know because the results didn't tell me.

When we did our life insurance a few years ago it was 205. Interestingly I did nothing to change my diet and in fact probably ate way worse since then and I recently had it checked during a routine physical and it was 165. I feel like the life insurance people lie or something.

101?? Total cholesterol?
I think so? IDK, when I give blood they always give me my basic levels. My cholesterol is always low but maybe it's not my total cholestrol?
I know my endo tests my cholesterol levels because I'm hypothyroid and we can have high cholesterol. It's never been an issue but I've also never specifically asked my levels.
I know my dad eats like shit and has always had really low cholesterol so maybe it's hereditary.
205 right before I got pregnant. I'll have it checked again this summer. I need to get back to exercising to keep it in check and hopefully eat a little better. My HDL was good and my LDL was not considered high though my overall is a little high.
While pregnant and now breast feeding, I eat a lot of good foods, but also all the ice cream, so....
Mine is pretty high. It's been about a year since I had it checked, but it was about 235. My good cholesterol is pretty good though. I've been told it's somewhat genetic (and obviously diet is a major factor.) My dad's is ridiculously high and he takes meds.

Last test a few months ago was 200. I always linger between 180-200 and hdl is always above 60. High cholesterol runs in my family, so I'm hoping I don't follow that trend.
