I'm not talking about things like education, housing or cars. I'm talking about other every day items.
Most of my non-negotiable things are cleaning products. I must have Pine-Sol brand cleaner. I must have Windex for windows (vinegar & water just doesn't do it for me). Also, concealer. I will never buy anything else other than LORAC under eye concealer ever again.
Meat. I buy local and organic meat, but even before I did that...that off brand meat at places like Aldi and Sav-a- lot. There is nothing worse than going to a cook out and realizing someone is trying to feed you a Bar S hotdog.
TOILET PAPER! For as often as you have to wipe your nether-regions, why would you use shitty (ha) cheapass one-ply toilet paper that shreds if you look at it sideways? Screw that. There are very few things I won't cheap out for, but toilet paper? No way.
I used to cheap out on shampoo/conditioner but I got tired of having frizzy dry hair so now I pay extra for the good stuff.
I am much more willing, in my old age, to spend more on shoes if they are comfortable. I still get cheap Target/Kohl's ones here and there, but I love my Soffts, Danskos and Borns.
I don't like cheaper coffee, like Folger's. I usually pay more for Caribou or Starbucks.
I won't buy generic mac & cheese.
I will pay more for the "natural" peanut butter that is only peanuts and some salt. I don't like the ones with added oils.
Shoes for both me and DD. Well, *any* shoes for DD - we're Stride Rite all the way - and running does for me. I'll buy a few cheap pairs of shoes here and there, but by and large I want shoes that fit right and will last.

Shampoo and conditioner, makeup brushes, and most cosmetics. Although I usually buy whatever mascara looks coolest to me at Target.
There's a lot of generic foods I won't buy.
I cheap out on cleaning stuff and basic household goods. Whatever toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning spray, etc., is usually what goes in my cart. I love Mrs. Meyers but it's just too expensive.
I always have to have a stockpile of those on hand, and I have successfully converted FI to the wonder that is a wipe down with one of those on his balls and taint after a hot day.

Always made wet wipes that they recently discontinued. I stockpiled those things like it was bread before a hurricane. They were marked down to like 83 cents a box! Yes, I typed out cents, suesue-style.
NOOO! I got a sample of those one time with a box of pantyliners or somesuch and loved them. I looked for them recently at Target but couldn't find them Those were so nice to keep in my purse.
Food. TP. Makeup & makeup brushes. Coffee. Haircuts. Shoes (except flip-flops). I'll buy on sale but they need to be good brands. Target shoes hurt. Bras, but I don't have a choice because I'm a weird size.
