I would look at the graco mysize/size4me/milestone. It's a convertible seat so you can keep him RF for a while and it has a really tall shell, so it will last until a safe booster size/age. I wouldn't turn FF yet (and my son was 2 in Feb and we have no plans to turn him around in the foreseeable future), but I know others do.

We have a Graco MySize for both DS2 and DS3, we love them. DS2 will be 3 in August and still rearfaces, but that's not for everyone and I understand that. Don't make the mistake of getting the Graco MyRide. It is extremely bulky, particularly in terms of fitting RF behind another seat. The MySize is soooo much better. It is a convertible, so will flip to FF whenever you choose. I don't recall the height limit, but it is good to 65 lbs.
If you're looking for something strictly FF, we bought the Britax Frontier 90 for DS1 because I want him to be able to stay harnessed for as long as possible and have been incredibly happy with it.
If you are planning to turn him at 2 in June and he still fits in his current seat, I would purchase the Nautilus if you like that seat. Just check his height frequently but with an inch left on his current seat, he'll probably make it to his birthday and you'll have the next seat ready to go.
I have the chicco nextfit convertible. I haaaated it rf at first and was about to return it (DS is only 8mo and a skinny dude so switching to ff is a long way off for us), but I did a bit of adjusting and now I like it a lot. It is by no means a small seat or cheap, but safety reviews are great and it installs easily even with the belt.
