I love that we got the Jon Snow execution scene. It's one of my favorite things in the book.
I'm cautiously optimistic about Sansa's story line. I think whatever path leads her north in the books is being traded with this path because regardless - she ends up in the north and I understand that the TV show cannot have all of the stories and people. I'm hoping she doesn't get all of Jeyne's story but we'll see.
My main goal for this season was to enjoy the show as something separate from the books because it's clear its going to diverge from the books out of necessity. And so far, I've been able to. Plus it's kind of interesting to speculate on what some of these choices mean for the books...

I think it's going to be a game of cat and mouse between Ramsey and Sansa with hopefully no torture and her avenging her family. I loved the old lady- the North remembers. Perhaps that is Lady Dustin? I also loved the NW stuff.
I really liked this episode. And like pp, I'm treating it as separate from the books at this point.
I'm not caught up in the books (i'm in the middle of book 4), but I know Ramsey is married to Jeyne, right? Pretending to be Sansa/Arya?
I absolutely adored Janos Slynt's execution scene. The best was Stannis' face about it. He was all, "I have the weirdest boner right now." It was a very Ned Stark move, and really, a vey Stannis move. For heaven's sake, he took Davos' fingers for being a pirate, though that piracy saved them in Dragonstone.
Margaery is laying it on a little thick. It's nice to see Cersei sort of settle into her new role and play it well. I loved the move with the High Sparrow.
What are the odds that Tyrion and Varys would be just where Jorah Mormont is?! Very unfortunate.

I LOVE what they're doing and how they're diverging from the books. It's so exciting! So far I think they are doing an excellent job of tightening things and tying storylines to central characters instead of introducing new ones. I think they may very well be improving on the meandering plot stuff that GRRM tends toward, although I guess we won't know for sure until the next book comes out.
Will Theon run off with Sansa before Ramsey gets a chance to have his way with her (either marriage or worse)? Will they still follow the Jorah/Tyrion as slaves line or will Jorah successfully bring him to Dany differently (I'm thinking of those pictures of Tyrion sitting with Dany at the pit)?
Margery is delightfully sly and smart -- her scenes are so much fun to watch. I loved the whole Cersei conversation with the High Sparrow, too. And oh, Pod and Brienne. They're so awesome together. And the House of Black and White. Tonight was just full of good stuff. The Dany-whore was an excellent addition as well.
It's really been a while since I've read the books. I read A Dance With Dragons right when it came out, so almost 4 years ago, and the other books a few years before that. So I barely remember a lot of detail, lol.
Anyway, I loved the execution scene. It was so Ned Stark. It hearkened back to one of the very first scenes in the books/series when Ned executes the deserter from the Night's Watch and told Jon and Robb that as the Dude in Charge he should always be willing to do his own dirty work. I loved Stannis giving Jon a virtual high five after that. No one's going to disobey your orders again, Jon! Which was, of course, the point.
I think I'm going to like this story line with Tyrion better than the book story line. When he was on the river FOREVER in ADWD I was like, "I remember this book when it called Huck Finn."
And Tommen/Margaery was so Henry VIII. He also felt guilty about taking his brother's wife and becoming king. And GRRM did indeed base the books partially on the War of the Roses/the Tudor time period.

I thought when he asked for mercy that Jon would cave. He did not. Respect Jon. Respect. And Stannis was all "I See You to Jon. That's what that face was.
I don't care that Margery is giving Cersei's raggedy ass epic shade. Plus the future teller telling her that a younger, more beautiful Queen will replace her gives me so much joy. I mean, I break out in an old black, gospel song - "I'VE GOT JOY! JOY UNSPEAKABLE!"
Varys told Tyrion's hard-headed ass to STAY IN THE DAYUM WAGON. A hard head makes a soft behind. - Blk Proverbs.
Do you think Varys saw Jorah/knew he was there? I mean, not much gets past the Spider, but I'm not sure he knew that specifically would happen. Just a general, "I told him this was a bad idea."
But Jorah is just going to take Tyrion to Daenerys anyway, right? That's what I got out of it.
Yes, I am hoping that since it appears that whole sideline about young griff has been eliminated, that Ser Jorah is just going to take him to dany and we can also cut the side story about them getting some collars and fighting for the second sons or whatever that was that they did on their long dusty trip.
He must be like 15 in the show, right? I think he's like 10 in the books there, so YIKES!
Yeah, book Tommen being 8(?) is a major thing because he can't consummate his marriage and it leads to one of the biggest plot lines in King's Landing in AFFC.
I was a bit sad we didn't get the line, "Edd, fetch me a block." What we got was essentially the same but that line is generally repeated over and over again in people's lists of favourite lines and I wanted it.
I may or may not have watched this episode last week. (I still haven't peaked at the 4th though, so at least I have *some* self control.) My sister is still not impressed with Sansa's twist a week later. If they skip most of the sketchy stuff that happens to Jeyne I can roll with it but I do not want to see Sansa take on all that role after reading her finally playing the game and getting agency back.

Yeah this is my big issue with Sansa's plotline at this point. That is why I am hoping that she isn't taking on the role of fArya/Jeyne and is instead going to do something badass.
