P has been up every 1.5ish hours since we put him to bed. Nursing is awful. He's lost weight and is not happy even though he's getting plenty and I just want to have a good cry but I can't because of Zoloft and chronic dry eyes. I don't even know WTF to do and I feel like a broken record and I'm embarrassed to call my pedi because I don't want her to think I'm a paranoid wackadoo.
I'm up sipping coffee because I want to monitor dd all night. Dh decided that he could handle clipping her nails for the first time (I've been avoiding it because I was scared I'd hurt her) and he cut her finger. There was soooo much blood for a tiny finger on a tiny person. We both freaked and were on our way to the ER when I thought to call the nurse hotline. The nurse said that it should be ok and we don't need to go to the ER if there's no fever or red areas spreading, I'm assuming that would indicate infection. Dh feels like shit and we both cried in between consoling dd. We got the bleeding to stop and she's sleeping peacefully on my chest but I don't think I'll be able to take my eyes off of her.
I'm really sorry, Brie. FWIW, I'm pretty sure your pedi will think nothing other than what a great, caring parent you are.
DS just went 4.5 hours between feedings. Granted, I stayed up to read and only slept for about 3 hours and 15 minutes, but still! He tends to do his best sleep from bedtime to wake up 1, so I'll probably be back to hating everything at 5am, but I'm pretty pleased right now.

I'm here. Hugs Brie. It will get better and call the pedi if you need/want too. Trust me-- they have heard it all!
I don't know what to do. Our pedi told us to CIO with the baby.... Was eating way too much at night. We did and it was great. Now I nurse once a night.
However, due to teething and a slight cold/fever, I nursed him last week. So last night,we CIO for the one feeding - 40 minutes and tonight, nearly the same thing. In my head, I know he's not hungry, because he would comfort suck for a minute, but agh. My poor heart.
Thankfully both boys have their we'll visit this morning. I have a lot of questions, especially about DS1 and behavior, etc.
Damn Brie I'm really sorry. Does he take a bottle any better? would it be worth EP or moving to formula? Or is it the kind of thing that would be hard either way?
sarahsas I'm sorry. Soubds rough. Are you able to nap in the day at all?
I'm up. Last wake up was 1245-2. I hope this one is shorter.
He has a weigh-in this morning at 755. They like to see nb first in the morning and first after lunch so they srebtvby the sick kids. Well that is the time to take or pick up DD from school. So we have tomgonto "early" care in the morning at 730 so we can get to dr by 755. We tried 2pm last time and it was cutting it too close to pick her up.
Long story short, we have to get up at 6 to get everyone up and clean and fed and out the door. Hold me.
E started making noise at about 1:30 after going to bed around 10:30. Finally got him up at about 3. I think he's having a growth spurt because he ate a ton before bed and seems pretty hungry now!

Hugs Brie and RedWino! I bet your H did feel so awful - poor daddy!!
My body apparently decided that 38 weeks pregnant was the perfect time for a chest cold, so I have been up most of the night. Ugh. I have an appt at 11 today so I am hoping for some reassurance that everything is fine, and it really is just a cold and the baby is good and ready to come any day.
Oh Brie, I'm sorry:(. Definitely call the doctor. This doesn't sound crazy at all. I'm sure your pediatrician will be helpful.
I am up again pumping, with plugged ducts. Sigh. And my cracked nipple is really not getting any better but at least I have antibiotic cream, so hopefully it doesn't get worse. I'm trying to decide if an appointment with a lactation consultant might be warranted to assess my pumping.
Hugs Brie - there's nothing wackadoo about calling your ped when you're concerned. I think sometimes food intolerances can cause an otherwise well-fed baby to not gain well - are his poops normal? Any chance he's having reflux that is causing him to wake?
I'm in the plugged ducts club too @kcpokergal. I cannot seem to find the right combination to avoid them - different shield sizes, varying speeds, etc. I think I'm going to up my lecithin dosage (or be better at taking it) and see if that does anything. My LC did give me a pumping plan when I was still trying to BF, so it might not hurt to call?
whiskeyandwine ugh, I hope you feel better. I had a monster chest cold the last 10 days of this pregnancy and not only did I feel like shit but I kept peeing myself from all the coughing, so that was fun. The babies were both totally happy and healthy though. Have you tried mucinex? My MFM also okayed Delsym when the cough got really bad.

Oh god, 10 days seems like forever. I haven't tried Musinex but I was thinking about trying that today. I feel alright in general, just this awful cough and stuffy head.
DS has not been sleeping well. His wakeups are short (thankfully!) but super frequent. I am also anxious about work and have trouble falling asleep a lot of the time. So tired! I hope this is just a[nother] phase.
Brie call your doc if your concerned, that's what they are there for. They won't think your nuts. It's the parents that don't call for issues that are crazy.
I've beEn up since 4 with dd. Just finally got her down now at 6 and my alarm will go off any minute. Damn.
I'm really sorry, Brie. FWIW, I'm pretty sure your pedi will think nothing other than what a great, caring parent you are.

This is exactly how DS is, he will sleep like 6 hours in his first stretch, then is up again after maybe 3 hours.
Hugs, sarahsas. That sounds so hard. I hope you are able to get a lot of sleep before 1 and after 5.
We just finished wake-up two. Normally he nods off to sleep after we cuddle for a minute after his post-bottle diaper change. Now he's looking up at me wide-eyed and expectant like, "That was good, now what are we going to do now?!"
Wake up 2. He didn't eat for long, but was wide awake while doing so. He now seems to be asleep on my shoulder. I just know he's going to wake up when I put him down. Blah.
And hugs redwino. I did the same thing when E was 8wks. She move right when I tried to clip and I got the tip of her finger. Oh man, the crying The blood I felt horrible! Other than a sore thumb the rest of the day and a scab the rest of the week you would've never known it happened by the following weekend. I'm sure your LO will be just fine.
We are on wake up #1. Thankfully she let me get a decent stretch in the bed tonight because my neck and lower back are killing me. I also have to start getting everything together for next week when I start work. I don't really wanna. At all.
spankswife occasionally. I'll be calling in my mil today to help. Because yep- I'm still here. I have not been in bed since my original post. Horrible horrible night. I dozed a little in between him screaming. Just woke my h up to take over and am going to pump and crash.krystee I wish I had better news!!

sarahsas How old is your baby? Could it be a growth spurt?
We got our first official stretch over 6hrs. He's still asleep but starting to stir so I'm just waiting. H had to get up for work already. So pretty amazing night. The first really good one.
Question...I have a friend with a 9-day-old. Her H is texting me asking if poop the consistency of peanut butter was normal. They're getting enough wet and poopy and are in the middle of a growth spurt. So I tend to think crazy consistency poop is probably normal...but I'm only 6w into this and far from an expert! Thoughts?
Yes, with little chunks? Thanks normal. Probably a little thinner than peanut butter really.
