Not a kitchen, but we are doing a 40k master bath reno.
We only had about 20k saved and are cash rolling the rest with the help of a 0% credit card. That's my MM confession for the day.
Wow! That's going to be one amazing bathroom. Make sure to share pics!
I'd like to see this too. We spent about $25K on our bathroom reno and we paid cash. We paid cash for windows last year and are currently saving to replace our deck next year.
We paid cash for both but saved a lot of money because H did most of the work. I see no problem with taking out a loan for renovations as long as the payment fits in your budget.
We have a kitchen, powder room and laundry/mud room that all flow together so I want them all done at the same time. It will probably be about $100k so we are doing smaller projects, like new windows, retaining wall, landscaping, finish the basement, etc. while I save up for the bigger project. Our kitchen is still 3 years out. We had a HELOC when we first bought our house and used it for some home improvements. When we were newly married, we used some of it to buy furniture. We will never do that again. From here on out, we are cash only.
