This probably works if you're always the same size.
I need a range of clothing. LOL.
So true.
This concept wouldn't work for me bc at any given time I'd have great tops or great bottoms that I'd fit but maybe not matching pieces bc I might be a few pounds up or down. Which is, all the time. =/
I was a realist at one point and just got rid of anything below a size 10.

I purge every spring and fall, right before our two big garage sales of the year.
I just purged a bunch of stuff this past weekend to prepare for the one coming up in May. Bonus: I can make money off of what I get rid of! That is always motivation to toss the things I never actually wear.
Hopefully next year about this time I will have lost the rest of my baby weight plus hopefully a little and should have a better idea if we want a second baby or not. But I can start purging the stuff that never really worked for me.
You all would be proud--I did toss all my worn bras so I will just buy new ones when I'n done breast feeding.
I really have SO many clothes in so many sizes. Most don't live in my closet. I did.get rid of at least half of the smaller sized stuff I had and all the smallest stuff.

I purged my closet 2 months ago when I started buying maternity wear. I got rid of all of the 'slightly too small' work clothes that I have been hoarding for about a year and a half since I assume that after pregnancy and a 1 year mat leave, even if I could fit back into that stuff it would be 3 years out of date at that point and I wouldn't want to wear it.
It was very liberating.
I'm essentially functioning on a capsule wardrobe right now with maternity wear. I'm very limited in terms of my options thus far.
There is an article circulating that says people who wear the same thing every day are more efficient and I think it said smarter. Like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg with their uniforms of turtlenecks and hoodies.
I have a shitload of clothes. I have no desire to purge.
I definitely need to do a closet purge. This is kind of why I want to try Stitch Fix - I want them to do all the work for me! Or better yet - a Nordstrom stylist! The problem is I feel like I already have a lot of pieces I love, but they're not cohesive. I don't know how to get to that point.

I've been trying to move in a capsule type direction and I've found that picking out a general color scheme and sticking to it is helpful. When I started I was only buying black, white, gray, olive, blush, and blue denim. For the most part, everything matches everything. I've begun adding in some more colors now, some powder blue and burgundy, but I'm trying to make sure they still go with everything else I have.
I love my capsule wardrobe. I like what I wear 99% of the time and it makes my life easier. I think it could work for most people, excluding fashionistas.
My wardrobe can seem boring but it works for me. To add more interest, I wear accent jewelry and leopard flats. That's about it.

TWINS.
except i have some random red thrown in. i have super dark features but rather light skin, and a lot of color just makes me look terrible. i'm becoming obsessed with all black lol.
I can't believe I am only now realizing the joys of wearing all black outfits. What have I been doing with my life the last 29 years?
We are having a garage sale next weekend and I did a major purge before we moved. Here's what's going to happen when we start setting up the sale: ohhhh! I forgot about this! I'm going to keep it! Lol!

I broke up with black about 3 years ago after a long relationship but now we are back together. Bright colors are just blinding, what was I thinking? I love your color list, except I wear more navy than gray.
I am starting to look for more navy for summer. I can't resist anything nautical.
I had a capsule wardrobe when I had a job. Now that I'm a SAH, I have a uniform - skinnies, black top, cute, comfy black footwear. It's almost always cute and appropriate, but also very boring. That's the one thing I miss about working - reasons to wear super cute clothes (oh, and the money to buy them, so two things I miss). My closet is FULL of things, but I wear the same ten pieces 90% of the time. I need to purge and expand at the same time. Maybe add color to my uniform?
So I did a purge last night and have a mountain of stuff to donate. However, it barely made a dent in my closet. I think I'll have to do a second pass tonight.
I did a purge in February for my winter clothes. Donated or tossed anything that didn't fit right, was tired looking or still had tags on it. This pretty much left me with a capsule wardrobe. Once it warms up and I pull out the summer stuff I will do it again.
I'm going back to work (from ML) next week, so only a handful of items fit and I'm about 10-15 pounds away from all of it fitting. But I only returned clothes that I truly WANT to wear again back to the rack.
Guess what, over 50% of the contents of my closet are headed to Goodwill. It feels so liberating!
I did a 30 for 30 challenge (30 pieces for 30 days, including shoes) a couple of years ago and it really did help me with thinking of different ways to pair things.
I don't have room for all my clothes so I have to switch out from fall/winter to spring/summer. I do a big purge before switching. I try to be really honest with myself about how things fit or how grubby they look. I'm a sucker for worn in tshirts that often look not so good, lol. It gives me a chance to be like "I didn't wear this at all this season".
I also have little color in my closet... And I have a serious thing for stripes.
whereeee are you finding classic striped knit tops? i want a WHITE and navy or white and black (not ivory! not cream! WHITE!) 3/4 or long-sleeved top, and i cannot find them.
I saw some in the Boden catalog. Also, google Breton stripe and you should find a good selection. I'm needing a good navy and white stripe top since mine is starting to wear a bit.
