I officially made it to taper for my first marathon! Woo hoo! Now to not eat everything in sight over the next 3 weeks, so I don't start the race a few pounds heavier.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
I ran today for the first time in nearly a year. It was a run walk, but there it is. Back at it.
That's awesome!
My AW is that I did the Manitou Incline this weekend. 2557 stairs, 2000 ft elevation gain over a little less than a mile. Average 48% grade, goes up as high as 61%. It is really hard to show the scale of this thing in pictures, but it used to be a rail line that got washed out by run off. Now the railroad tracks are gone and it is just ties.
I would have had a heart attack going over this thing in a rail car.
I rode my road bike outside yesterday, about 15 miles. All my friends bailed on the planned group ride, but I didn't join on bagging it and went alone anyway.
It was approximately my 3rd workout of the month of April. I'm trying to break out of the 1st trimester exhaustion-inertia. I can also now say I rode outside to 10 weeks. I would like to see how far I can go (while being reasonable about safety for Hobbes and I). Previously my last outdoor ride was at 7 weeks.

It would have had to be a cog or cable railway with a grade like that, so there would be safety systems in place so as to avoid said heart attacks. Even modern trains can't do greater than 3 or 4% grade MAX these days without a cog or cable system (which makes them a closed system, just going up and down only, not like Amtrak or anything).
I ran 6 miles at an easy pace yesterday and it was amazing. I think I found my half marathon pace. I felt like I could go and go and go. I also got adjusted on Friday and my hip issues went away. Normally my hips are hurting after a run but not after yesterday's. I was feeling bad about my fitness last week so I went and bought some workout clothes.

It was a cog, but even still. lol.
Sorry my train nerd was showing for a minute there. LOL
I went to the gym tonight! I think I've lost my regular status, but plan to get it back this Spring/Summer. I feel like I do a good job with strength at home until I get my ass whooped in a strength class. Yowza.
andrealynn my H and I used to climb that when we lived in Parker. That shit is hard! And it's also incredibly annoying that the pictures never did the hike any justice because I wanted people to know how badass it was! Haha
Now AW for me but I got the runger today (long run yesterday) and I forgot how bad it got!
I hiked 3.5 miles yesterday, most of it with a 30 pound kid on my back. Today I tested out running just a little bit on my usual 2.5 mile walk and it felt amazing

I forgot that you already had your DS, and nearly fell off my chair. Haha! You're awesome.

You had a baby, like, 5 min ago!! You are so awesome. Glad to hear things are going well!
I kicked ass at my half yesterday despite a fall early on in the race. I'm thankful I do not have to wear a dress anytime soon since my knee looks like meatloaf.

To be clear, I liked this because of the ass kicking. Not the meatloaf-knee.
I swam this morning. At 5 am no less. And I'm on a no sugar challenge at work. Day one down (we shall forget the chocolate binge yesterday in prep for today

I ran a half yesterday that I had planned to do just for fun. It was my birthday, and the course was super hilly (it was the Columbia Iron Girl half course, for anyone who is familiar), so I was pretty chill about the whole thing. I ended up feeling great, so I finished it in 1:55. And then drank lots of beer.

Nice!!
I took DD to the gym with me for the first time today, since she's finally old enough to go! I feel like I can finally get back in shape now. Let Operation Lose the Baby Weight commence.
The run portion of my bike/run brick tonight was a fart filled slogfest, but I loved the ride. It was finally warm enough for short sleeves (I wore a jacket on my ride on Saturday.) I took a new route tonight and was rewarded with the most amazing views. I also clocked in on a speed sign at 26mph down a hill. I had to check behind me to make sure it was me and not a car!

I PR'd my overhead squat on Sunday at 210#-definitely my current favorite lift oddly enough. I need to start working on some other stuff though!
A year ago yesterday I ran my first (and prob last) half marathon. I still can't believe I did it. Running is so far out of my comfort zone-I admire all you runners so much!
