I had to ask because apparently, I am working with a crazy person. We have a small office and a new co-worker microwaved garlic shrimp for lunch. I was out in the field when it happened and when i came back there was a horrid smell. I thought something died in the fridge and my other co-worker told me someone microwaved fish! A short while later, shrimp lady came back and fessed up about microwaving her garlic shrimp. She made us feel awkward for saying anything even though she was all, "oh sorry, that was me with the smelly shrimp." She's pretty new so we couldn't even joke with her or anything. How could she not know that would stank up the entire place?
Yes. We're all about salmon and trout fishing in this state. Most people have tons of it in their freezer. So if someone fires up the microwave with some yummy salmon, it's no big deal with me or the CW's.

I microwaved shrimp, salmon and asparagus the other day. I did wrap the container in a paper towel and then immediately put the lid on as soon as I took it out.
Yes. I think its fine but then again, I need to eat protein and well sometimes its going to be fish. When I microwave fish, I walk around the office and warn everyone. So far, not a single person has said anything other than 'good for you' and really, they have no reason to lie to me.
What else would they say? Are you asking their permission?

Free (healthy) leftovers trumped my give a damn for my coworkers noses this day. Lol
This is acceptable in my office. My coworkers eat a ton of smelly things: fish, hard boiled eggs, Brussels sprouts...basically anything that has a strong odor has been cooked in the office microwave or toaster oven.
It doesn't bother me.
What bothers me is the seafood restaurant I walk by every time I go for a run. On hot days it is the most disgusting smell ever.
Eta: in case it isn't clear, I don't even eat fish.

eww gross! wtf why would you do that? you are breaking the microwave rules!
but they usually say good for you and uh ok? Is there something wrong with microwaving fish at work? Because most people don't care about this stuff heh
If you were asking me, I'd say, "Uh okay," as well and then bitch about you on my message board. Duh. Most people are too polite to be like, "You know, I hate that smell, so I'd rather you go hungry. Thanks!" LOL.
