eww gross! wtf why would you do that? you are breaking the microwave rules!
but they usually say good for you and uh ok? Is there something wrong with microwaving fish at work? Because most people don't care about this stuff heh
If you were asking me, I'd say, "Uh okay," as well and then bitch about you on my message board. Duh. Most people are too polite to be like, "You know, I hate that smell, so I'd rather you go hungry. Thanks!" LOL.
Seriously. I hate the smell of fish so much, but if my coworker told me they were going to microwave it I wouldn't tell them not to, though I'd probably want to throw up from the smell.
It's kind of been agreed upon as okay in the teacher's lounge at my school (at least my grade level). I'm more offended by the burnt popcorn smell that has been lingering since I was on maternity leave. I wouldn't do it unless I knew it is acceptable in a specific office.

I'm fine with fish. There are worse dishes. I really cannot stand the smell of some of the food my coworkers heat up. I am also not making a special lunch. Leftovers is what I eat and what my coworkers eat.
Garlic shrimp is pushing it... That is a strong smell compared to a salt and pepper tilapia.
Quite a few people do this at work. The kitchen reeks, the cubes where they eat reek and there is a lingering scent in the hallway.
A few weeks ago, someone came by to deliver & set up something related to production and said loudly, "WHAT is that gross smell?". One of the woman explained that she microwaves fish for breakfast. The delivery woman was horrified and said, "OMG - that is food???"
It shamed the row of fish-nukers into a few blessed weeks of non-stinky breakfasts and lunches but they are back at it now.
I am at the point where I would be ok with no microwaves at work, ever.
One of the docs I work with eats microwaved fish with cauliflower almost every day. We got rid of the microwave because she won't stop eating it but today she found one in another office. It smells so bad.

whut to all of this
The office was in the same hospital, I don't make sense after melatonin and benadryl
NO! And reheated salmon, or any fish, sounds disgusting! I could handle it reheated in an oven, maybe.
Do you only cook 2 pieces and not have left overs? I just don't see a way around this. However, we cook an entire half of a fish at a time, so I'm used to reheating it with the microwave. Thankfully I SAH and my kids have yet to complain

Honestly? Yes, lol. If we cook chicken breast, or fish, in single serving form, like not mixed in a one pot type of dish, we cook it each night. With fish, we usually buy a one night portion. I can handle shrimp past reheated. /ISSUES
I consider this a luxury of a two-adult household, not that you have issues!

Luxury? If there was a kid, I'd cook enough for 3, or feed them something else. I just don't like meat leftovers, as a main dish. It's different if it's cooked into something else.
ETA: If we have 4 chicken breast, we cook 2 each night.
Sorry, bad word choice. And now that you've explained further, I understand what you mean more clearly.
Our floor's microwave is emblazoned with NO FISH OR POPCORN on the front door. If you want to microwave either of these forbidden items, there are two dedicated microwaves on the second floor of the 52-story building.
The second floor houses the cafeteria and secluded conference rooms. Nobody works on this floor.
That's how offensive these smells are apparently. LOL.
In my office it's on the no-fly list. Along with popcorn and cooking bacon in the microwave. We're probably more uptight about this stuff than a lot of other places.
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
If people can eat yogurt, which smells like shit and you can smell it all over the office, then people can heat up fish.
What?
I don't think i could possibly smell someone eating yogurt unless I was sitting in their lap
I am in the "no fish in the microwave" camp BUT I agree with jalapeñomel on the yogurt. Yogurt smells SO BAD. I gag even thinking about it. It smells like rancid newborn poop. I can smell it clear across a room.
And I have a frequent offender in my office. At least my office is the furthest it could possibly be from the microwave while still being in the same office suite, but still.
