Speaking of cheesy 80s music, Glenn Medeiros was the emcee at the luau we went to. I couldn't quite place how I knew him until he sang a snippet of his 80s hit cover "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You." He was cheesetastic!
I was having feelings about our visa situation last night, which carried over until today. I was emailing FI about it and his response was basically that we should stop talking about it because there's nothing we can do.
I know there's nothing we can do FI, that doesn't mean I don't stress out over it and feel like shit all the time. So how about you go eat a dick?
Not liking for the situation, but telling FI to go eat a dick. Boys.
Conversations with my mom are always so depressing. She just called me to complain that my cousin is drinking and she had a fight with him about it. But if I say he is an alcoholic, she is all "no, he just needs to drink less, he says he is not". Of course, then why did he stop drinking for 6 years? For fun? ugh. (backstory: my cousin's wife kicked him out and he moved in with my parents temporarely until he figures his shit out) And then she complains about my dad not being functional and not working and being behind on all his paperwork and how he has changed. But then if I point out that he is 69 years old, had cancer, and is just ready for his damn retirement already she starts going on and on and on about how they are poor.
and it's always the same story with different variations of how everything sucks.
I'm almost done with The Girl on the Train. It was so boring for two hundred pages, but it hooked me in, finally. It's only getting a star or two from me. No love over here for this book.
My biggest source of insecurity has always been my smile. I have one of those smiles where too much of my gums show, and my teeth look short. I asked about a procedure to fix it years ago, but it was going to be almost $1,000 and they said they would only be able to push the gum line back a little bit. I decided it wasn't worth it.
I had a dentist appointment this morning, and decided to ask about it again - he has a laser in his office and can do it for $250. And he showed me where he can trim the gums back to, and it's almost a normal level. I'm going to have almost-normal teeth!
This also sounds like an awesome excuse to eat nothing but ice cream for a week, so congrats!!!
Are you leaving for vacation soon? I was just thinking about that this morning.
Haha! You'd think so, but he also said that there is practically no recovery time. I might be a little sensitive for a day or two, and might want to skip the scratchy toast, but other than that, it's a 30 minute procedure with immediate results. I was seriously almost in happy-tears at the dentist's office!
I leave for Panama on the 16th. I'm hoping they can squeeze the procedure in before then, so that I can get a lot of smiling pictures with my parents!
My BIL may have to go to Baltimore if things don't settle down. He's a State Trooper... Throwing this in randoms for now because it's just a possibility at this point. Other troopers from his barrack have already gone.
Well, the National Guard is here so as of right now they are saying there are no plans to call in more State Troopers.
I just had to tell someone no less than 5 times an email address. She got it all and the end is "dc". I said "dc, as in dog, cat". She said "bc?" "No, dc, as in dog, cat". Rinse and repeat. "Ok, blah blah bc?" "NO, D AS IN DOG" "Oh, sorry, I wasn't hearing you correctly." Ya fucking think?
It's going to be a good day. The sun is shining. It's supposed to be 25 C today. Missy Elliot was playing when I hopped in the truck this morning. I was able to grocery shop without anyone having a meltdown. Yep, gonna be a good one.
I have a double ear infection. It's clearing up, but went to the ENT and they sucked out all of my ear wax. It was the weirdest sensation. I haven't heard better in YEARS!! And I totally wanted to see what they got out of there. But didn't get to!
Glad it's clearing up. Wow, I would so be interested in having this done to my ears. Eww I am glad you didn't get to see. .
My boss just went into labor. And I'm panicking. Now I have to train the new hire alone and I'm afraid it won't be to the standard my boss wants. I feel unprepared.
I found out yesterday through another mom that the father of one of my daughter's classmates from last year passed away suddenly this weekend. The rest of the family (son, daughter, mom) came home, and the daughter, probably age 9-10, ran in first to find the dad in the kitchen. "Mom, why is dad napping at the table?"
I'm annoyed at my optometrist's office. I want to switch back to my old contact brand because the one they switched me to a couple of months ago is killing my eyes. They just keep aggressively pushing this new brand. They finally agreed to rewrite my prescription for the old brand, but only after I try out a sample pair for a week. "We just don't want you to waste your money on something you may not like."
I've used that exact brand and style for the past 15 years. I know how they wear, and I'm pretty sure I like them just fine.
My husband just almost busted his head open (or so he says) because his chair just decided to break at the shaft (HALAHALALDLSDHLSDFDF:LSS Shaft!). He's tiny, so no idea what happened. just poor design I guess. He's working on uploading the video. I hope I can share here!
My husband has the weirdest relationship with his parents. They called at 9pm last night to wish us a happy anniversary. We had gone to an early dinner in order to be home to watch hockey. We were watching the game when they called (game 7, third period, score tied) and he got annoyed when I told him that I did not want to talk to them right then - we were in the middle of doing something together (which is just watching hockey, but it was important enough that our anniversary plans were made around the game). I found out today that he LIED to his Mom and said we were at a late dinner when they called. WTF? It's 9pm the night of our anniversary - they should not be surprised that we did not answer the phone - and why lie. FTR, he's 50!
M isn't a great napper. I got this message from her teacher:
"Your daughter was moving all around at nap. I waited till she looked at me (at this point I could only see her from the nose up above the table) and I gave her the stink eye so she would lay down. She looks really serious for a second, like she was thinking about it, and then she smiled a huge beautiful smile at me and showed me jazz hands °~° I give up. I laughed so hard!!"
I abruptly came down with a cold. If you've ever seen the meme about how during a cold, one side of your head feels like a swamp and the other like a desert, you know how I'm feeling about now.
I'm pissed. I just barely got over a long, drawn out chest cold and now I've got another.
