I work for UMB, which closed yesterday at 2. I almost expected them to close today. They didn't. No liberal leave mentioned. Open as usual.
So here I am. Except that our larger dept is DESERTED. I think their boss probably let them WFH today. My boss? LOL. He would never think to do that on his own OR ask his boss if we can WFH. He just follows along waiting to be told to do anything.
Then one of the housekeepers just came through. They don't normally make their rounds until around 1:30. She's the ONLY one here, in our entire building.
I work across the street from the hospital. Supposedly there are National Guardsmen posted around it. I haven't seen them myself but as I have a meeting later across campus, I'll get a full scope of what's going on.
How can it be okay for every other person in your area to NOT be there - except for you??
Different bosses. While we are a part of the same overall umbrella, the bigger group that we're next to works for a different boss than the 3 of us. And that boss, "Mike", isn't afraid of the big boss. He'll make decisions and will stand behind them.
My boss is afraid of both his boss and the big boss. Well, afraid isn't really the right word. But my boss is just NOT proactive or an individual thinker. He just follows orders. But a part of that is fear, I guess.
I told him that if ANY word of "shelter in place" comes down the pipeline, I am IMMEDIATELY leaving.
