What about some apple pie bourbon cocktail of some sort? That's juice! MH also likes some weird ass milk and bourbon drink (nasty!). But milk works for breakfast. Here you go - MILK PUNCH!
Breakfast is by far the best meal of the day. When I got married, I had a bridesmaid luncheon that was actually brunch at my favorite breakfast place. Because brunch is always superior to, well, anything. And this is kind of why I hate my MIL. She does not understand the awesomeness that is brunch. Booze, eggs, bacon, etc. WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?
I grew up having breakfast/brunch every Saturday after church with my extended family. Lunch at that time of day is gross, and it bugs me when people eat heavy lunches instead of breakfast/brunch after church.
Eclairs - I am picking up what you are putting down.
Every single baby or bridal shower I have been involved in I have lobbied for a brunch event. Beccause brunch is the best meal of the week.
YES!
Seriously brunch is perfect for things like that. I would love any shower that was at brunch, even though I have deep hatred for showers, usually.
Plus, mimosas! My SIL had a boozy brunch for her "bachelorette" party. I thought that was pretty awesome.
My favorite was my sister's baby shower - we had to do it in the afternoon because of travel and such, so I called it tea and pretty much made brunch food anyway.

Tada!
I was thinking when I wrote my post that the only thing that could compete/compare would be a tea with brunch foods and booze, haha.
Actually, that is true. I used crisco to fry something once and it made one of my pans amazingly smooth.
Yikes, hydrogenated oils are pretty terrible in terms of health. You could use virgin coconut or palm oil. Real lard is awesome if you eat animal. It's not necessarily unhealthy if from a pastured animal... it really depends on the animal's particular diet.
I admit I fail at cast iron. I know how awesome it can be because I've used my MIL's perfectly seasoned skillet - it's almost glassy smooth! But we always wrecked ours. I switched to the ceramic-coated pans for eggs which I'm pretty happy with. It seems a lot more stable than nonstick but time will tell what bad news will crop up about it.
yeah, i don't really cook with the crisco. I just use it to coat my pan after scrubbing it if the seasoning needs a retouch. Which I guess means a tiny amount makes it into my food, but eh.
This morning I used the big cast iron skillet because I cooked for both of us. The little one has gotten more use, so it's better nonstick. I'm gonna have to work on the big one. And I'm going to have to convince H that scraping out the stuck on egg and wiping with oil is sufficient. I think the thing spent a lot of time under running water this morning, which is definitely not helping things.

I'm awful to my skillet. I cook acidic sauces in it. I scrub it under hot water with a green scrubby if MH forgets to wash it after he cooks and it sits and gets all caked on. Ummm...it often sits overnight with food caked all over it.
It's still slick as can be. I just give it a swipe with whatever oil is handy after drying it. Or come up with an excuse to cook a bunch of bacon or fry something if it really starts to lose it's seasoning and it bounces right back.
I did use it exclusively for greasy fatty stuff for the first couple of months I had it though, so it got a pretty good base before I started abusing it.
