Someone here recommended The Royal We. I'm reading it now, and it's a fun, light read (fiction that sounds an awful lot like Prince William/Kate story)
Boston Girl Girl on the Train
I'll second TR's rec of Where'd you go, Bernadette. That was a fun one. For non fic, Let's Pretend This Never Happened was really funny, as was Is Everyone Hanging OUt without Me.
People are going to recommend Outlander. Don't be surprised like me. It's full of sex. Makes for a good beach read, but it's full.of.sex.
This guy is way cute.
But I'm just saying. You're there on the beach reading some historical fiction next to an elderly gay couple from the Netherlands and then all of a sudden people are doing it on a rock and you're like "omigah, don't look at my kindle, gramma!"

That's 'jamie' from the Outlander tv series.
Oh, I know. You can't exist on a message board with @lazerus24 for longer than 2 days without learning that.

Not super new but I LOVE Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. I read it one summer, partly while I was on vacation, so it is always a summer/vacation/beachy read in my mind. Very good book anytime, though. Made me laugh and cry.
Anything by Jennifer Cruisie. Welcome to Temptation is the best, but also Bet Me, Faking It, Fast Women, Crazy for You and Tell Me Lies.

I love her.
RIGHT? I do not understand what happened to her in 2004. I have literally not liked anything she's done after Bet Me. All the collaborations and weird sci fi/fantasy stuff, boo.
"You. You and your crazy life. You and your geographic anomaly. You and your drunken lesbianic ways and terrible navigational skills." - ProfArt and her holy baby
I second the people who have mentioned Liane Moriarty. Everything I've read by her has been great. My favorite has been "Three Wishes."
If you like non-fiction, I'm reading a book called "Hissing Cousins" right now. It's about Eleanor Roosevelt and her first cousin Alice, who was Teddy Roosevelt's oldest daughter. It's not heavy reading at all, and it's really interesting. On a lighter note, I just read Giuliana Rancic's book and I really liked it a lot!
I also LOVE Stephanie Perkins' YA series with Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door, and Isla and the Happily Ever After. Perfect beach reading and so good.
