I have a fenced yard and it's not an option for me either, and it's very sad. My dogs would freaking LOVE to be out in the sunshine.
But I would come home every single day to a dog that had bathed herself in poop. Guaranteed.
Someone had posted a long time ago a pic of the inside of a house after coming home from work. The dogs had a doggy door & had either killed a raccoon outside & brought it in & played kitchen 500 (blood EVERYWHERE) around the island - or killed it inside, then ran around.
Made me 2nd guess a doggy door for our house Ours would be full of dead birds, moles, and probably a rabbit or two.
Oh man, I'd be so pissed. I have small dogs- one is 13lbs, one is 7lbs. They couldn't kill anything if they tried, lol
We cannot crate train our 13lb dog. I've shared this before, but he was burned in a kennel dryer at a groomer. He CANNOT do confined spaces now. In addition, it damaged his kidneys, and now he has to pee all the time. And I just don't feel like its fair to allow one dog to come and go and not the other.

OMFG. I am rageful for you. Burn down the grooming salon. WTF?
Oh, and our dogs could never catch anything. Too slow. Not that they don't try. But they've never brought anything inside with them (fortunately). We also have cameras set up to check on them when we're gone. It's great. They actually sleep more than anything. Lol.

we have two rescue GSPs and they love to "hunt" in the backyard for critters. I'd rather not have their treasures inside the house when i come home
