Okay, first marathon is in T-17 days, so I'm just entering taper. Run 2 of 3 for the week yesterday morning, and my hip was wonky. Took it easy and scheduled a chiro adjustment for today. But then yesterday, my left knee starts aching a little. I've never had any issues with my left knee; had IT band problems when I first started running on the right, but new shoes and strengthening exercises got me right as rain. I checked my shoes, and they're at 300 miles almost even, so I pulled a new pair out (same style), and planned to wear them for run 3 or 3 this week, and my "long" run of 12 this weekend.
This is normal, right? Is this my body just coming down from the peak with those two 20 milers, albeit two weeks apart?

It is not uncommon for something new to be broken, strained, or sprained, during my taper. Every sunrise brings that start of a new marathon ruining ailment. Welcome to taper.

My first marathon is also in 17 days and I've been noticing weird pains too. Nothing debilitating, just stuff that I'm all "really?! Never before, but right now??"
Yes, yes, and yes. I do think the chiro and maybe an extra rest day are a good idea just in case. Your body has been through a lot and is tired, but I'm certain you'll be fine for your race.
These next 17 days are all about taking care of yourself, sleeping extra, hydrating, and important stuff like planning your outfit. At this point (no matter what your plan says) just listen to your body and keep things easy.

I think this is spot on for me! Thank you. I skipped this morning, and was going to get it in tomorrow, but I may skip my first run. When I was sitting on my feet last night, I had the same kind of tightness I'd had with IT band issues on my right, and the chiro confirmed that's what it would be. He suggested lots of extra rolling and rest. Argh!
