We have ordered a washer and dryer for our new house - we got the Maytag Bravos Xl. (top loader) When we looked nearly a month ago, this seemed to be a decent option. However, I've read very bad reviews for it and Im thinking of cancelling, but I'd lose my $250 deposit.
Does anyone have this washer dryer? The reviews I've been reading is that it doesn't have enough water in the washer and stuff doesn't rotate down to even get washed. It also spins so fast that it damages clothes/makes it impossible to get wrinkles out.
My agitator free top loader, a LG, makes my clothes SO wrinkly it's ridiculous. I've not had damaged clothes but it is a lot harder on them than my front loaders. I'm sure to separate out my delicate shirts etc and not just mix it all in. I deeply miss my front loaders

I had no agitator top loaders and I hated them. I had to constantly stain treat and rewash my toddlers clothes. I agree about the wrinkles too. We traded them out for front loaders.

FWIW when we were looking at washers years ago, the sales guy said that is an issue with top load non-agitator washers.....they just can't get stuff as clean as ones with agitators or front loaders. I would see if you can use your deposit on a different set.

I've only had that issue if I don't follow the directions and fill it too full. You are supposed to put the clothes in like a doughnut with a hole through the middle. Part of the efficiency is less dry time by getting so much water out. They are really wrinkled, but it comes right out if you dry them within a day and don't leave them in the dryer.
Not a Maytag--but we have a top loader/agitator free washer. I think many of the complaints on washers are at times, user error. For instance, if I know I have some stains that need removed, I make sure to use the steam assist setting. Or if I know that I won't be able to get them into the dryer within a few hours, I change the spin cycle to not remove as much water--because as PP pointed out, the wrinkles come from the clothes being more dry when the come out of the washing machine.
We have a top-loader, no-agitator set (Samsung) and have no complaints. It cleans better than our previous non-HE, agitator washer, and I haven't noticed an increase in wrinkles with this set.
I have that set and HATE the washer. Like the above poster, I wash everything on the bulk setting because it fills the water level higher. Our machine is 3 years old and we have had 3 service calls on it because the bearings go bad quickly due to the high spin rate. The bearings seem to go bad once a year, almost on a schedule. I'm glad we bought the extended warranty.
I'm visiting my sister in her new house for the first time. She has these and HATES them. She said she cant get stains out and has to wash cloth diapers at least twice.
I had an agitatorless washer for over a decade (Kenmore Elite, I think built by Maytag.) I loved the set and was not happy when the girls broke the dryer door (just sprung them by putting a load of towels on it, eminently fixable for $120) and we bought front-loaders (because DH has wanted a front-load set for years and it made for a great excuse.)
Sort your laundry appropriately, don't overstuff the drum and you'll be just fine.
I had this washer (and dryer). We just moved and we inherited an 18 year old W/D, so we have to replace it. We specifically did NOT buy the Bravos again, b/c of the washer. It seemed to always have a weird smell, that the old washer n ever did. I don't know if it's that model specifically or if it's the non-agitator set up, but we just bought a GE set that has an agitator. I was really disappointed in the Bravos.

Strange about the weird smell. Mine never has smelled, but I made a point of keeping the lid open until it totally airs out after using it.

This is us. Samsng no agitator top loader, clean fine and no damage issues. I hate HE washers for really dirty stuff. Like cloth diapers, next time i will get a extra water option
