What can you all tell me about it? My friend is trying to talk me into it although there are lots of fun races here in Phoenix during that time frame (Jan 2016).

I did the half in 2014. The course is lackluster, but nice and flat. I enjoyed the finish line party. Expo was a breeze. All in all, it was a good race. Charleston is 2.5 hours away, and a place where I have a lot of warm fuzzy memories, so that's a draw for me. I would definitely do it again.
The race starts in downtown Charleston & is VERY flat. You run by the water at Battery Park & then down King Street to head out of Charleston.
The scenery itself isn't much, but it is flat and the weather is usually mild-ish. Low 40s for start and high 50s/60s at end. Aid stations are awesome & post-race party is decent (mimosas & beer! & shrimp/grits!)
The expo was decent also. We stayed within walking distance to the start, so that was nice. And used Uber for dinner/back. Food is amazing and overall it was a good race. Just not very scenic
Just trying to find out if it's worth coming from out west to run.
Is there any entertainment on the course? Scenic? Etc.
Although a G2G might be worth the trip!
If you are coming from west coast and want a coastal run - I would pick kiawah, outer banks or Virginia beach. There were a few kids with microphones on the course at charleston - but that was it
