I am planning giving a pack of diapers along with a baby shower gift. What is the best brand to buy? Also what size should I go with? Please help me I am dumb when it comes to all thing baby.
It varies amongst babies, so definitely include a gift receipt.
I think the Honest Diapers are a fun one to give, mainly because the prints are adorable. You can buy them at Target, as well as online.
Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive are also a great choice, especially for new parents. The diapers have a line on the front that turns blue when wet, which comes in handy when new parents have to keep track of how many wet/dirty diapers.
Every baby is different and what is good for one child might be terrible for another. I'd probably go with something "popular" like Huggies, Pampers or Honest brand diapers. As for size, I'd probably get size 2 or 3. They're likely to get/already have a lot of newborn and size 1 diapers and I've heard of a lot of people's kids outgrowing those sizes before they can use them all.
I liked pampers swaddlers and I would go with size 1. My kid was so big he didn't fit into newborn diapers and other moms I know only used them for a very short period of time.
I agree with going with a larger size. DS is 3.5 weeks and is already out of the newborn size. I bought a big box of Kirkland size one and like them a lot. They seem to fit him pretty well and were inexpensive.
My favorite were Pampers Swaddlers and I would probably give size 2 or 3. A lot of people give NB or size 1, so it is nice to get some in a bigger size.
As long as the diapers have a gift receipt nb is a nice size to receive if the baby is small and/or early. I only needed them a few weeks so it was nice to have a small package on hand.
Pampers was my favourite but others swear by other brands. If the person can return the diapers to BRU it won't matter one way or another. Otherwise the size is the real issue - she's likely to have enough NB diapers since they grow out so quickly. She'll probably get quite a bit of size 1s if other people give diapers as gifts. By the time you're in size 2s you know what brand works for you and if someone gives you diapers in a brand that causes you daily blow outs, you'll never use them.
Maybe you could give wipes instead. They are not size specific and a wipe is a wipe is a wipe if you're in an emergency poo situation!
I got diapers in all different sizes. It was nice to have the next size up on hand. Not necessary, but nice! It was also a nice way to be able to test run different brands without spending a lot of $.
I have only one pack of NB size - so 32 diapers I think. I have plenty of size 1. Should I buy more NB?
(I'm just adding a diaper question here...TIA!)
I'd buy another pack somewhere you can return if needed. You'll get some from the hospital, but I want to say we averaged 10 diapers/day in the beginning, so a pack can disappear fast. DS was teeny and was in newborn until almost 7 weeks, but I know that is the exception and not the rule.

I say yes. We went through maybe 4 packs of 40 before DS outgrew them. He was over 8 pounds at birth and I feel like they stopped fitting him somewhere around 9.5 pounds.

dd is still in newborn at 5 weeks. We'll probably finish this pack and switch to size 1. I'd probably get another pack if you think your baby will be on the smaller side.
To answer OP, we just had our baby shower and some of the moms there were saying do not switch between brands. I received both Huggins and Pampers but have been using pampers so I guess I'm supposed to exchange the huggies. They made a big deal out of it so I would check the registry to see if the mom listed her preferred brand.

That's ridiculous. Unless your kid has rashes from a diaper, which is rare, you can switch all the time.

That's insane. There is nothing wrong with switching (unless your kid has sensitive skin and reacts to some brands)
We use Pampers Swaddlers but hear good things about Honest diapers.
Size 2.
We got a bunch of newborn diapers from the hospital and he was only in size 1 for 2 or 3 weeks and I have a bunch left over that I am giving my cousin. We used size 1 about half as long as newborn and DS was decently sized at birth--8lbs.
Personally, I love Honest (now) but I liked getting a variety of brands at showers just to see what worked. It was also nice to have a variety of sizes so that if we decided to switch, we didn't have to run out and buy any right away. But as others have mentioned, it's good to include a gift receipt.
@jalepenomel, cabbagecabbage, thebuddhagouda, I'm brand new at this parenting thing so I appreciate your responses. One woman was like "NEVER switch between brands!!!!!!!!" And three other women were like "uh huh, yea, don't do that, that's not good." Even my mom piped in with a horror story about the rash my brother got when she switched brands although she added the disclaimer that she used a really cheap brand and it was the 70's. Oh well, good to know this isn't anoththing I need to worry about.
