My baby boy turns 6 tomorrow. God, where does the time go? We had a swim party for him at the Y this past weekend and he had so much fun. I made these and had to AW.
I am also a bit irritated. My babysitter is booked this Friday. I gave her name to a friend and we are both invited to an event. She booked her before me. DH travels and I don't have anyone else. I know I can't be mad, and I am not, but dammit I wanna go. Oh well, I should have asked her sooner.
cute! How many kids do you and your friend have between you? could you share the babysitter?
I do that regularly with our best couple-friends for date nights or other stuff we're doing together - We drop our kid off at their house and pick the grownups up and we go do whatever we're going to do while their babysitter watches all three kids. Works well.
Awesome cake! I think we may do TMNT for AJ's birthday party this summer. Yes I know he'll be two, but he loves him some ninja turtles. "Turtle? Turtle? TUUUUURRRRRRTLE!!!" is a commonly shrieked line when we're in the car and I can't give him whatever TMNT object that he's thrown across the car seat. Again.

apparently the CDC recommends that all preggos get a TDaP again regardless of when they last had one. So now my upper left arm HURTS. Why does that shot suck so hard?
Today is museum day from 6-8 at B's school, where you get to walk thru and see the projects they've been working on for the last year. H, however, has a soccer game from 5:30-6:30.
So we were talking at dinner and B was asking if we ewre going to go. And I said "Yes, mommy is going to pick S up from daycare, and then we'll come get you and go thru the museum together."
"Well, what about Daddy?"
And H looks at me all shady and was like "Well, what about daddy?"
So I said to B "Daddy has a soccer game tomorrow night."
And B said "Oh. But Daddy can you come to museum with us please? I really would like it if you came with."
And what can you say to that, right? Although H shot me a look like "Did you put him up to this?" NOPE BABYCAKES. He did that guilting ALL ON HIS OWN.
Yeah, I'd see if the sitter can watch all of them (maybe with help?)... often when that's happened, the kids keep each other busy and happy, so it's actually easier for the sitter. Depending, of course, on how many, ages, and whether they get along.
Just found out our teachers are walking out for a day (May 19th). They're protesting the state legislature's inability to pull its collective head out of asses. The school department is adding a day on to the end of the school year (mid-June, we go fairly late), which seems to have the community of parents apoplectic. What about people who already have vacation plaaaaaaaaans? We're ooooooooooonly six weeks out?
dude. it's not that hard. if you have nonrefundable airline tickets, you go anyway... it's the last day, not a big instruction day (the last day of school was going to be a Monday, anyway, so I'm sure the attendance for that day was going to be pitiful, anyway.
The only people I have sympathy for here are those on a tight budget who've already paid for childcare that day. But my guess is that's a small #, but who knows. I'm not crying in my coffee for those who want to whisk their kid off to Disneyland immediately after the last day of school.

LOL
BoyLiu sings the theme song. It's adorable.
We have a couple stuffed TMNT things in his room too, they are the first thing he asks for in the morning. "Mommy! Hi! TURTLE!!!" Gotta start 'em young, right?
Also, my husband is convinced that AJ said "bye bye, I love you Georgie" to the dog before they left the house yesterday morning. I'm not convinced that's actually what he said, it was probably along the lines of "bye bye unintelligible babbling Georgie!". But it's still cute, and I would not be shocked if he said I love you to one of the dogs before he said it to one of his parents.
My mom discovered the hard way that AJ now knows the difference between cookies and crackers. He asked for a cookie on Sunday and she tried to give him a cracker...but got "No, Meme! COOKIE!" Well then.
DD2 turns 11 on Friday. ELEVEN. I still can't wrap my head around it. She has requested a Doctor Who Tardis cake, which I'm going to try. Piping is not my thing, so I have no idea how it will turn out.

I got mine yesterday and my ds thought it would be a great idea to whack me in my arm and declare that I must have gotten a shot. Not cool.

I did yoga right after mine. Helped a ton.
It didn't hurt right away...but like 3 hours later it started to get stiff, and this morning I'd like to go ahead and saw my arm off. I keep waving it around like a chicken wing hoping to work it out. I don't think it's helping.

so, a kind of not really sort of trigger story:
my mom had gotten me earrings for my 21st birthday from Tiffany's. they're nothing special but they go with everything and i wore them all the time. well, H and i were making out one night and i lost one of the earrings. i could have sworn i lost it in our bedroom. that was about a year ago. i was thisclose to contacting Tiffany's for a replacement (which they'll do if you bring in the match to the earring) but i'm hella lazy. MEANWHILE i also lost another earring when i fell asleep on my couch. this was years ago but i've still been scouring the damned couch trying to find it. every time i vacum it i pick through the crap. nothing.
well, G was looking for something in the couch the other night and found the earring from my mom! WTF? i've been searching in that couch IN THAT SPECIFIC SPOT for months! and she found it a week before mother's day.
i'm sufficently thankful and freaked out all at once.

How are you feeling?
Good overall! I still feel like I look cute instead of whale like. Hip pain has actually subsided a bit - possibly because I finally found my happy place with my pillow set up in bed. A friend gave me a snoogle and I finally figured out how to get myself wiggled into it properly. MH hates it because it crowds him, but I don't care because I can sleep again and not wake up more sore than when I laid down.
My whines: I'm TIRED. I don't remember feeling this tired this early with Shorti, but I'm not sure if that's just because I've blocked it out or because when I was KTFU with her I could od things like come home from work and take a power nap. Not so much now. I'm probably also a little anemic - I was last time too - which doesn't help. I hate the constipation iron pills cause more than I hate being tired though, so I'm just dealing with it. I should probably add some more iron to my diet now that I'm thinking of it.
I'm emotional. My hormones are just....insane. Like, MH asked what I wanted for dinner the other night and I said I wanted cheese, crackers and ice cream. He laughed. I burst into tears. He then went out and bought cheese, crackers and ice cream. I JUST HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS. I don't know what to do with them all.
But like I said, generally good. Excited. A little scared because omg how do I do the infant thing with a toddler? How does anybody keep two children alive at once??? But...tons of people do it, so it must not be *that* bad. I could spend hours just sitting staring at my belly watching him wiggle around in there. So cool and creepy.

We have done this before, but this starts after the kids will be in bed and they have one who is too big for a pack n play but still in his crib. I don't feel comfortable "inviting" my kids over. I'm just kicking myself for having it out there for a while and not pinning down the sitter.
I am pulling out a big ol' brag: I had DD2's PT conference this week. This kid is freaking amazing. She's kind, she's patient, she's focused and engaged and likes school. She turned 5 in March and can read chapter books (Ivy and Bean, Bad Kitty, etc.) -- I give a ton of credit for this to DD1, who also reads above grade-level. One of their favorite things to do together is read to each other. DD1 pushes for the more advanced books and DD2 is all about reading what her big sister does.
I wonder what they're going to do with her in kindergarten re: reading. DD1 went to a first-grade reading group while she was in kindy because she was advanced in that area as well, and I think DD2 is already at least that far along just because she's had more motivation in the form of DD1. Her teacher was like, "DD2 is going to make our preschool program look GOOD!" lol.
I also got a compliment on how well-rounded her lunches are. Even with a mini-cookie in there every day! ::preens::

It's a Costco cake. They have a design with balloons that happened to have all the TMNT colors. I asked that they not put the tie and string on the balloons, then made a set of lollipops without the sticks and slapped them on. I also got some bubbles and replaced the labels with the eyes and masks, bought some TMNT cups and pencils from Party City for favors. There is so much TMNT stuff out there it was an easy theme.

Nice...we had a Costco cake last year and it was a huge hit. thanks!
I have my appt tomorrow and my OB is going to talk about induction. As much as I don't want to be induced, I'm very ready to be done. I'm also measuring larger and my BP was a little more elevated than normal last time so if that's still the case I'd rather be induced than wait. And we've officially decided on a name - so yay for that.
DS is still on his "and then what happens" question kick. It never ends. I was daydreaming of a privacy window in my minivan like what limos have.
DS who is 3 has colored on our new (less than a month old) carpets with crayon TWICE now. The second time was just today. I was so tempted to throw away all the crayons in the house. He's rolling around on the floor whining about how he doesn't want to clean it, and I am trying SO hard to stay calm! 3 IS THE WORST AGE!
