lol, I agree with others I might say something about walking around naked (and I don't live alone), but draw the line at nudes. Tinder is weird, but entertaining.
pantsoffdanceoff you totally should. You have to get off in Italy, so if you don't plan on finding a random Italian guy to help with that (which you totally should) then you need a back up plan.
Random Italian guy is definitely Plan A, but it's probably good to have a Plan B.
My psychiatrist left my dosage as is since he raised the dosage 4-6 weeks ago. He wants me to try it for a little longer to see if I can "level out".
He asked me what I am doing about my weight gain and how I am feeling about it. I told him that I don't know where to start. I never lost weight without exercising before. I think that is why it's so hard for me. I'm really short and have short limbs so 20lbs looks like 100 because it doesn't have anywhere to spread out!
My psych. suggested Weight Watchers. I want to start, but I feel so overwhelmed just thinking about it, plus I'm an emotional eater blah!
If any of you ladies lost weight on WWs, do you have any tips or advice?
abcdefu, Ive done ww before (actually last year) and it does work even without exercising (of course it's better with exercise). I fell off of it and have to get into the mindset again. It's doable because you can eat regular foods in moderationm but you must plan, plan, plan. Tons of fruits and veggies because almost all don't count in points value. It can be overwhelming, I get it.

Thank you for the advice. Did you do it online or go to meetings?
I'm scared because I don't have a regular digestive system. TMI alert: I have a neurogenic bladder and bowel, so I have to be selective in what I eat. I have been hospitalized with horrible colitis on three occasions in the last 5 years.
The bright side is that my physical therapist is going to be switching up my exercises. So I was doing 10 minutes on a low impact bike thingy, but I'm going to start walking for 2 minutes on a treadmill. I am really hoping I can start taking walks even if I have to use a cane or walker. The wheelchair is wayyyy too heavy for me to take out by myself unless I can get a portable ramp.
I am so terrified of doing something wrong and causing my cord to re-tether.
Hugs abcdefu I think you should totally take it easy on the exercise. It would be awful to hinder your healing. Eating and food is such a mindfuck, we all know what's healthy vs unhealthy. We all know how important portion control is and all that jazz. But there is so much more to changing your relationship with food than just knowing things. Now this is coming from someone who doesn't do WW, but my friend lost (and has kept off for over 5 years) 80lbs going. The great thing about weight watchers is that not only is it about real world eating (so no huge restrictions) but going to the meetings can help you figure out how to deal with the emotional part of food. If you're going to do WW, I'd suggest in person because, for me, that is where I see the real value.
You know your body best, but I think you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice if you didn't really try losing weight through food changes at this point. Exercise can come later.

Thank you so much for all of this! I have to lose 20-30lbs which doesn't sound like THAT much, but it just feels overwhelming. You are absolutely right about exercise coming later.
Your friend is awesome! That gives me hope that I can do this! I'm going to see if I can find some meetings in my area.

abcdefu I have done WW multiple times (clearly I didn't make it "a way of life") and lost 30 pounds each time. If you make a real commitment to change the way you eat and look at food, you can be successful. It is going to take some time and planning, but you can do it!

i went to meetings along with using online tools (it's included in the package with meetings). I know people that can do online only. For me, the weigh ins at meetings are what kept me honest. I'm admittedly not a good gym goer or regular exerciser and it definitely works even without exercise (even though we all know exercise is good..blah blah) I think it's a good option because you need to be very mild with your exercise. Also, I'm not sure about you..but I am not a person that can do a strict diet that completely cuts things out..like no carbs or whatever. WW is really about balance and good choices. Like I said earlier, I did well with it (but I can't lie--I'm not currently doing it--but should be). If you follow it, it absolutely works.
ETA- about you having to be selective due to medical issues--I don't envision that as a problem because you eat real food and can stay away from whatever doesn't work for you.

Same here---I really need to make it a way of life to truly stay successful.

I ordered new running shoes tonight! I'm really excited, especially since I have actually been getting up to run. My feet were sore today and I know my shoes are waaaay overdue to be replaced, so I bit the bullet tonight.

What did you get?
Asics. They are by far my favorite running shoe. I overpronate when I run and their website made it very easy for me to find shoes for me!
