I'm about 90% sure that we're going to move this year. We have a lot of crap... I mean collectibles... that we could get out of our house to help get it ready to sell. Pods seems to be the ideal solution as we can put it in our driveway as we fill it up.

One realtor told us that it's a bad idea to use one while your house is on the market because it could make potential buyers think there isn't enough room in the house for all of your stuff.
My cousin used one and the house didn't sell. They got rid of it and then it sold. Anecdotal.
We did when we sold our condo and had to move into an apt while house hunting. I can't recommend them more. It was SUCH an easy process and allowed us to pack at our leisure and then just have the thing delivered to the new house (we had ours in their secured storage facility for a month while we lived in an apt).
My only experience was when I looked at PODS as a way to get my possessions from KY to WA. I did not find it cost effective for me. The price to move it was about $1000 less than full service movers, and I would have had to hire people at both ends to fill and empty it.

I'm fairly certain we wouldn't keep it in front of our house while on the market. We have a ton of stuff that we could pack in there and still have enough to keep the house furnished while selling.
It's funny, cause we definitely have enough room for our stuff. However, no one is going to want to tour a house with zombies and dying aliens looking at them (Halloween props).

Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent a room in a storage facility? Either the POD is going to remain in front of your house, or they'll store it, which you'll have to pay for.
We've used them multiple times during renovations, and have had great experiences. We have been super careful with how we pack the POD so that nothing breaks, but in general, we have found them to be fairly reasonably priced and super convenient.
Definitely call around and price out several options, though. I found the prices of different companies to vary widely.

If I could find a storage facility. The last time I checked (last year) all of them were full. This time of year is bad, too, because all the college kids are storing their junk over the summer.
We used them for a cross-country move + 3 months of storage. We had a separate crew of movers come pack it & unpack it for us. At the time, it was very cost effective, and it worked out great. I'd use them again if needed.
We used PackRat. PODS didn't do MA to MN. It was the only option for us as we sold before we bought. We also have TONS of stuff. Can anyone beat 5 units?
We used packrat because they were cheaper than pods when we priced them out but it's the same idea. It was super easy and convenient. I'd use them again.

We used PODS to store excess furniture, off season clothing, and other things that we could live without during the period we were selling. Packed ourselves, then had them store at their facility while we were on the market, and then delivered to our new home where we unpacked ourselves.
We had no problems whatsoever and it was convenient to declutter and pack on our own timeline while prepping to sell. We did secure the big furniture to the walls so that it wouldn't shift.
We used upak to move from Virginia to Ohio and we saw plenty of upak trucks on the way. It was about the same as renting a penske truck. Then we paid a couple guys to help us unload it.

We used pods during the renovation last year. It was expensive. Delivery and pickup were seamless which was nice. Otherwise it was...I dunno, a giant box in your driveway?
