I woke up early this morning with some pain. Thought it was just baby kicking my nerves but it started to get regular. It starts as pain in my lower belly and then I mostly feel it in my back and man it hurts. I've been timing them and they range from 8 to 12 mins apart. I've had a little pink discharge too. I don't know what to do! How do I know if it is really labor? Laying in bed with a heating pad on my back, which is really hurting. If this is early labor, I'm not going to handle this well.
I hope for you that it is! Try not to think how any one stage feels, is predictive of the next. It'll change, not necessarily get progressively worse in exactly the same way. You can do this.
If your water hasn't broken, a warm bath will help. I sat in my tub with a jet pointed at my back during early labour with DD (I'm going to miss that tub this time).

This sounds a lot like how mine started! Mine was also largely in my back then started to wrap around the front as they got stronger. I also had the pink discharge aka bloody show. That will probably increase. Eeeeee so excited for you!!
Go about your day as normal. Drink lots of water and if it is labor the contractions will pick up some and get more painful. NWH will tell you to come in if you have bleeding and or contractions for 4-5 minutes apart lasting for a minute for an hour.
Thx guys! Wow, this hurts. Now I feel them only in my back, shorter duration like 20-30 secs but more frequent. I'm so confused! I guess I should call the office just to see what they say.
Contractions less frequent than 10 min apart usually indicate a pretty long labor to come (and that's not a bad thing bc longer means less intense than a fast labor). I would go for an hour walk. If it doesn't speed up, try to rest and take a nap and eat lots of carbs for energy! Then just go about your day and see what happens.
Thanks everyone! I took a long bath which felt great! We just ate lunch and I'm just relaxing in the couch. They slowed down after the bath, now they are about 8 mins apart and lasting 30 seconds. Not too bad but I mostly feel it in my lower back. That's a bad sign right? It is super hot / humid today so we might go walk around the mall in a little bit. I have a feeling early labor May last a while. Thx for all the advice and support! It means so much to me!

I had some back labor, it can happen if the baby is in a certain position. The epidural made it a lot better though. I hope Baby Noodeloo is on her way soon!!
It's really normal to feel it a lot in your back. Pelvic rocking or a forward position like leaning over a birth ball can relieve a lot of the back pressure. Try to relax as much as possible and breathe deeply during contractions and have your Dh rub your lower back. Good luck; you can do it!
